Danny Boyle suggests The Smiths could feature in London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony

The Evening Standard (London) yesterday mentioned that artistic director Danny Boyle (director of Slumdog Millionaire) had suggested that music of The Smiths might be used at the opening of the Olympics one year from now.

"Beijing's four-hour extravaganza is thought to have cost £70million. Boyle, who has a reputation for scoring box office hits on shoestring budgets, has hinted that Britain's musical past could be central to the 2012 opening, saying this year: "Think about who we've produced - the likes of David Bowie, Jimmy Page, The Smiths, Stone Roses and New Order... you would imagine it would be a big part of the ceremony.""

Danny Boyle: Olympic opening will go back to basics - The Evening Standard

apparently people mistake him for Morrissey. In his (Danny's) dreams...

Excerpt from the Autobiography - the so-low place part II

From chapter 38 - the so-low place

So where did it all go wrong? It's tempting to blame all of my fans en masse - and were I a less intelligent person, I probably would. However, I know a few of you are perfectly decent people with jobs and detached houses... So instead I think I shall blame that despicable Morrissey impersonator on the so-low place. Paul was his name. Fat c*nt with awful breath and terrible hair, apparently. He sashayed on to the site, wafting in the soul-destroying aroma of mould from his unwashed/undried bath towels and generally lowering the tone, and the rest is history. Pictures of bears looking for wolves 'to eat' posted everywhere, cumbersome critiques of the law-abiding and hard-working so-low majority by thuggish benefit-dependent scallies and Jeremy Kyle-watching chavs (no offence Rourke...), not to mention the libellous lies about old Moz, always posted as someone else by Paul and his cohorts... But then again one could equally blame that man for allowing him to post those foul misattributed messages about me in the first instance. To his credit, that man did, at least, ban Paul under every known IP at my request, introducing a little democracy to an otherwise grotesquely fascistic website, full of false rumours, lies and poisonous nonsense about my career moves etc. Unfortunately for democracy there's always the public library... do you see now how flawed democracy is?

Danny Boyle wants the Smiths played at the London Olympics? Is this the same Danny Boyle who once wrote for the NME and recently appeared on The One Show with Ginger-minged millionaire Chris Evans to discuss his recent battle against throat cancer? As compassionate as I am, I cannot see how he is qualified to pass comment. They'll be asking Jonathan Ross' opinion next...

How about the very fact that he's been charged with sorting the ceremony out? That qualifies him to pass comment. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10338048

Plus, you are referring to Danny Baker.

Your an idiot

Frankly, I enjoy Morrissey's editorials, however, I am starting to view him as a bit of a coward. Maybe coward is the wrong word, but nonetheless...He makes these posts on true-to-you, throwing bits to the world occasionally, yet he doesn't bother to allow for discussion. No healthy debate. It's almost as if he is throwing us linguistic meat if you will, we devour it, and have no means to discuss things with him. Celebrities are really out of touch in that way; I believe they are afraid of this healthy discussion/debate. I would love to have a discussion about things with Moz; animals, McDonalds, the price of wheat in Idaho, but celebrity doesn't allow for the regular folk to have contact with them. Yeah, his idolization of animals is interesting. No question we should treat animals humanely. No question. But I would kill a dog to save a person. I would not, however, kill a dog for another's selfish satiation.
