Article: Universal deny blocking Morrissey Paris tribute release, call Morrissey's accusations "hurt

Re: Universal Deny Blocking Morrissey Paris Tribute Release

"we asked his representative to confirm his intentions and which charity he had in mind to support via the song’s proceeds. We are yet to receive a reply."

*SMH* So much for Morrissey's 'loving tribute'. What a total numptie.

so they claim he never asked them at all, was never given a no but rather a yes or something else

And if I seem a little strange
Well, that's because I am

incredible, he probably imagined the whole thing while in a vodka haze.

And Mike Joyce offered to pick up the cash and drive it to the charity Morrissey chose.

They say they were not contacted directly by him. Then they say they contacted a representative after becoming aware of the posts. This is kind of strange. Why don't they say "We were never approached about this," or "the first we heard of it was when he posted on his website?" The "directly" part kind of stinks, but if anyone has contacted them there must be some evidence, so I don't know if they would deny it. It's hard to imagine either side just lying about it. I'm thinking it's going to turn out that Morrissey had someone make the call for him and they couldn't get through or the message was lost with all they were dealing with. Now they are offering to do it, sort of, but Morrissey would have to give the money away to a charity they approve, and the Animal Liberation Front probably wouldn't do, plus he would have to sort of acknowledge that there was some "mixup" and he's posted that meme so that would make him look like child who threw a tantrum and then promised to be good.

The other alternative is that there is no record of the call, and the post with the meme has made this executive angry so he's acting like, "f*** me? No, f*** you." And I can see any of these scenarios as equally plausible. If someone did that to me, I might resort to dirty tricks, and he's dealt with Morrissey in the past. I can imagine he might have a grudge from before. We know how Morrissey winds up at odds with his record labels.

I'm exactly 0% surprised by this turn of events.

At any rate, based on the statement from Universal's spokesperson, it seems they are at this point open to reissuing the single with proceeds donated to a charity of Morrissey's choice. If he really wants to show solidarity with the victims of the Paris attacks with a sentimental gesture to raise money and make some sort of positive impact, it appears Universal are extending him the opportunity to do so. I'm interested to see if he takes it or if it goes ignored, or rebuffed with another passive aggressive TTY statement or infantile image macro.

An anonymous person and JoeSellMozza post the link:

Universal Deny Blocking Morrissey Paris Tribute Release, Call Morrissey's Accusations "Hurtful and Wrong" - Pitchfork
Universal spokesperson: "We have not received – let alone refused – any request from Morrissey himself related to ‘I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris’."

Yeah, who knows? right? Maybe Universal did refuse M at first. And now to get their 'side' of the story in are making this up so they(Universal)won't look bad. Or maybe M never approached Universal and just made up the story to get back at Universal for some crap they (that we don't know about)did to him in the past (?). Possible. ...We can ALL be children at times.

Also, Universal probably only now offered to do the ITMAAP release simply because they know now he/M won't do it after the TTY post. In turn making him look bad.

Well, this pretty much confirms that he will not be getting a record deal any time in 2016.

remember when moz wrote in his autobio that the rest of the smiths tried to get rid of him? methinks moz is a liar who loves playing the victim way too much

Liars waste time.

No Mozzer told this geezer down at the local Cock and Bull to pass on the message to this bloke that works on security at Universal called Duplicity McGuffin and he told his mate Ginger Bollox who wrote it on a paper aeroplane that he threw into the President of Universal letterbox last Tuesday at about 3am. So it's all legit like. Yeah it's all Universal's fault. Moz is innocent. He recorded it all on 16mm but the film accidently got stolen by some gang members.

Devious, truculent and unreliable. Were three truer words ever spoken?

I like how Uncleskinny and the rest of the modtrolls released the Rio show article before it got out so this would be the first headline.

Do you have any proof to the contrary of what he wrote in Autobio about that incident ? Or are you lying yourself?

Maybe I missed/misread something along the way? I don't mind being proven wrong.

"... any request from Morrissey himself ..."

Blame the messenger: PR advice. Need of PR advice? Fans at work. Meaning: Moz power

I'm spending too much time on this site.
