List of the Lost by Morrissey (1 / 5 stars) - The Skinny
Alan Bett | 26 Oct 2015

Excerpt:

...Working through its 128 pages feels like freefalling through a garbled dream. Time and place remain opaque and characterisation stretches barely beyond names, while single sentences stretch over half pages. Worst of all is a godlike ‘voice of Morrissey’ narration which digresses into diatribes on his favourite subjects – vegetarianism, establishment, monarchy – like a thematic stalker, dragging the reader so far from the narrative path we forget where we were.

Hm. For all of List of the Lost's issues, this review has got a few of its own.

I like the dream analogy, something that floated around in my mind as well, and the intrusiveness of the narrative voice is the main issue with the book IMHO. But saying that a baboon could have written this in a week is too easy and a gratuitous insult to boot.

At first glance I thought that said "review by Alan Bennett". Now that I would like to read!

At first glance, I thought this was reviewed by Skinny. The guy who's always crabbin on this site. Now that's something I wouldn't want to read.

Not in a million years. AB is a fine writer, not a second rate blogger. He would appreciate List of the Lost.

LOL so true. just like his shows. you think you are going to listen to music, instead being berated and lectured about the perils of eating meat. the over the top mozz veggie thing is obviously to compensate for the gay issue.
the book only reinforces the interpretation.

List of the Lost is one of those very rare books that the more you read it the worse it gets. It must have the guinness word record for most bad reviews awarded a single book. one book only has garnered moz hundreds of bad reviews.

Do we really need more LOTL reviews on the front page? They're all saying the same thing, and it's not enriching in any way. Come to think of it, not unlike some posters on this site.

I said it previously in another LOTL thread but what do we expect? The owner of this website has obviously a field day with all the negative reviews of the book. It must be like christmas for him. One present after another.

Go ahead, find a review you like, and post it. Would you be saying the same thing if they were all complimentary? Would that be 'enriching'?

Probably not, I'm not that big of a fan of the book. It's the ongoing, repetitious ranting I object to. Enough already.

There's been a reall lack of updates by TTY about the chart position of Stevens novel.
Does anyone know position what it is in the charts this week so I can update my list of the lost sales graph.
Thanks.

Who gives a f*** about someone else's opinion on anything. Read it & make your own mind up. I read it. It is an extremely enjoyable read and gives a great insight into the mind workings of a modern day genius. That's all I need to know.

You're a tryer. With a shit blog. But a tryer. I'm under your skin, baby, eating away at you.

No blog from me; you must have your isp numbers all mixed up. I live in Ely, but you know that. And no, you're not under my skin, but Morrissey is under yours, and however hard you try, you just can't get him out. It annoys you doesn't it? You want to walk away, but you just can't. I pity you.

I've got a great life mate. I don't need any 'singer' in it. I'm in the best year of my life, I feel great, I have no worries, no enemies, everything is well with the world. Clearly everything I do and say annoys you. You can't leave me alone. I post elsewhere, you respond. you're obsessed. So why do you do it? Chum? Clearly you have a vicarious need to defend everything Morrissey does, and go in hard against the merest hit of detraction. So - who's obsessed, and why do you feel the need to time after time after time after time post against me, personally? Serious question. Go ahead. Explain why. And I do not walk away because, and you may not believe this, I don't expect you to, I help here and behind the scenes as a service to fans and out of loyalty to David. I see a lot of people like you. People who cannot help but come to this site, because everyone else does. And it creates such an inner conflict - you hate to do it, but feel compelled to. I know where my loyalties lie - with David and with the fans. I do what I do here for no other reason. And if you don't like that, then there's nothing I can say that will convince you otherwise. You have just had the 100% unembellished truth from me. Any argument on that point is useless, because I just said it all.

the book has fallen from last weeks position at 1000, thereby tripping the mozbotts into action. there are never enough negative lotl reviews the possible threat of its reappearance on the charts being alarming enough.
skinny is again correct when he points out that if one is to follow an mediocre pop singer so devoutly that one becomes a bot, then find one with a record contract, or one that is chock full of bad reviews. one that is svelte and cuts a dashing figure.
not moz ffs.

the four eyed dork from the blue rose society is the one here obsessed with skinny. i think he blames his for that blog not growing and remaining just a couple of mozbotts posting stupidities to each other. im afraid skinny is not to blame for that awful blog.
