NYC Smiths/Moz Halloween Bash at Highline Ballroom (Oct. 30, 2015)

Yes, Doug Gillard will do a few songs and we've just added Lower Wolves, a tribute to early REM. Should be a great night!

Friends,
Excited to be playing a big, wonderful sounding room in chelsea, the Highline Ballroom. Friday night, October 30th... come dressed as a vicar in a tutu, or whatever your favorite Smiths/Moz themed costume might be.

This is our only show until the end of the year, we hope to see you all there.
xoxo

We are quite humbled to announce that we'll be headlining a Friday night at the fabulous Highline Ballroom in Manhattan, for what will surely be a new fall tradition, our first ever Halloween/Johnny Marr Birthday Bash. You are always a fantastic looking crowd, so we can't wait to how you celebrate Halloween. A limited number of early bird tix are available for $12 until 9/29. Grab them now, they'll be $15 after that. Easy money!
Joining us with an opening set and as our guest Gannon will be our good friend and guitar ace Doug Gillard (Nada Surf, Guided By Voices, Cobra Verde). The Highline is a beautiful looking and sounding room, but a show is only as good as its crowd, so we are counting on you to make it another great night. [/HTML]

If you split the two main eras of Guided By Voices into Smiths/Morrissey solo terms, Doug was "Alain Whyte" to the "Johnny Marr" of the classic line-up's Tobin Sprout/Mitch Mitchell. He is a very good guitarist.

The song "Ready For Death" at http://www.douggillard.com/ has some Smithsian leanings, with a bit of "And Your Bird Can Sing" in the solo. Worth a listen.

Well said! And he's a big fan of The Smiths & Moz and a super nice guy to boot.
