The Smiths nominated for Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame 2016

I'm bound to say it, but vote, vote and vote again. Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want This Time.

Would be fun if the acceptance speech were done by Joyce because Morrissey and Marr didn't want to share a podium. Or if Morrissey did a gothic romance acceptance speech. But seriously, I hope they get in this time, even if the concept of a Hall of Fame is rather cheesy.

Since we, the public, can cast a vote, I suggest we all do! :) http://rockhall.com/voting/2016-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-nominees-vote/

Isn't every Morrissey speech part of the Gothic romantic tradition

What are all of the rankings so far or where is a link to view it. Just curios but yeah I'm not to surprised among that list that Janet is number one.

The results of the fan vote only count as a single ballot, so I wouldn't be too concerned about who comes out on top of this poll.

As I said last year. Let's vote the ultimate outsiders in the Hall. Let the band decide what they want to do if they get in. It cracks me up just thinking that they have a chance to get in. The Hall is so bias against Brittish bands so I hope this is another door kicked open for other Brittish bands to get in. The Cure, Depeche Mode and New Order are all deserving. The Smiths have been breaking new ground since the start so I hope they do it again. They deserve it! Just think of all the fun we will have watching them make up their mind as to who would attend and who would not. Morrissey has really now replaced Reed, Bowie and Iggy for the next generation of musicians that matter.

Excerpt:

Janet Jackson, Chic, The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails and N.W.A are among the 15 finalists on this year's ballot for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, organizers have announced.

Others to make the nominated class for the 2016 Rock Hall are The Cars, Chicago, Deep Purple, Cheap Trick, the J.B.’s, Chaka Khan, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, The Spinners and Yes.

...The public has until Dec. 9 to cast votes on the final inductees. The top five acts will comprise a "fans' ballot" that will make an impression along with those of the 800 artists, historians and music industry professionals who make up the Rock Hall voting body.

Thanks doc. They are in 11th now with only around 37,000 votes whereas some of the top votegetters are around 900,000. I think it will be tough again this year with bands like Yes and Chicago leading the way so far. They are just not well known enough in the popular circles of music to make a big dent in the voting. Funny how their being kind of off the grid and non-mainstream was what was most appealing about them, but may end up in the end the thing that costs them inclusion in the R&RHoF.

I think John Marr, Fat Andy, and junkie Mike will show. They will pull a Guns N Roses. At least Fat Andy will show for the free hot dogs.

If they can get Buster Poindexter to induct them, I am thinking Morrissey might show. Anonymous-
