New interview with Jutarnji List (Slovenia)

'IDIOTS rule the world today ... unfortunately' legendary Toninho Morrissey exclusively for morning about the new album, politics and animal rights

The legendary Toninho, the great philosopher of indie rock, a militant vegetarian and campaigner for animal rights, a poet who romanticized contempt and misanthropy - call it what you will, but it does not ask if he would ever bury the hatchet with his former buddy, great guitarist Johnny Marr and rebuild The legendary Smiths. Never say never, but NEVER Morrissey on this point seems to be solid as a rock. The last album "World Peace Is None Of Your Business" is one of his better solo career, a tour on which it promotes arrived in Ljubljana, the hall Tivoli on Saturday, October 10 Given that his current backing band somewhat owed to zimušnjem appearance at the Zagreb Fair, in the meantime, they had a good time usvirati, it seems that the Ljubljana concert opportunity for re-socialize with the legendary Mozzerom as whispers British rock press.

'Great Leap Forward'

Gives interviews rarely and reluctantly, except of course if there is an actual agenda to which he cares and that pushing - in this case, and can be quite talkative. In our electronic conversation, which is at the end of at least dealt with his music, surprisingly elegant skipped the question of what is his first novel, announced after the huge success slaughtered published autobiography. But it soon cleared up - only a few days later it was announced that the "List of the Lost," Morrissey debut work of literary fiction, comes out in late September. Details are not yet known.

Because lately a lot of talk about his health problems (primarily food poisoning on tour in Peru, and inflammation of the lungs, stomach ulcer, then and cancer ...), for which he knew cancel a lot of shows, it is normal that any man's first ask for health.

How's your health lately? Last winter in Zagreb, you acted quite ok ...

- Health is very good, I think.

What kind of set list we can expect in Ljubljana - promote you still his latest album, "World Peace Is None Of Your Business"? How people react to it?

- Reactions are magnificent, especially the song "World Peace Is None Of Your Business," which seems to have struck a chord with people around the world.

Artists often say that their latest work at the same time their best, and in humble opinion of these lines, in your case, this claim would not be entirely wrong. Which album would be chosen to be their best in their careers, with the Smiths and solo?

- There is no doubt that the "World Peace ..." great leap forward (the phrase "great leap forward" is otherwise known economic doctrines of Mao Zedong, author's note). I think the period of the album, "You arethe Quarry" (2004) so far the best and most interesting.

The offer for the role

Do people still ask "what" question (the reunion The Smiths) and does that gets on your nerves?

- It bothers me because I have answered already two hundred times and could not manage to come up with anything new to say about it.

Already some time talking about the movie with the working title "Steven", which is in the development stage and talking about your formative years. Are you involved in this project and what we can discover about him?

- I do not know anything about it.

In all the years since you live in Los Angeles, if anyone ever came up with the idea to offer a role in any movie or TV series?

- Many years ago I was offered roles in Dennis Hopper, but I was looking for that all the time I'm naked and painted in purple. It's not easy, is it? ... But no, I do not get any offers at this point.

Approaching the end of the Obama administration. As a long-time resident of the United States, what are your final thoughts on it?

- I do not think that America had a black president. He has not assisted the black community in the midst of all this "who-loves-nek'-elected by the" extermination of blacks by white officers, had nothing to say. Even I doubt that the white man!

Do you have any insider predictions of who might be the next US President? Is America ready for a woman in the White House? Maybe Hillary Clinton ...?

- Sure, but as a black president does not necessarily mean changes for blacks, so no woman to lead America does not mean that this will change anything for women in America. The obvious example of this is that Margaret Thatcher did not have a woman in his cabinet and publicly condemned feminism ... When you choose to such a function, so you are thrilled that you have become part of the elite that you forget what you motivated when they have not been.

Coincidence religion

We're still in global politics - how do you think it will develop the story of ISIL in the near future?

- I can not predict. I understand that people have some of their religious beliefs, but I do not understand why they insist that everyone else must share the same beliefs. All we usually adopt the religion of their parents, whatever it was, so it turns out that in fact someone else's faith and religion is the result of a very wild coincidence.

This would not be a real interview with Morrissey no questions about animal rights. Do you see in that area some progress in the 30 years since he released the legendary album The Smiths' Meat Is Murder "(otherwise, the performance of the title track from that album on the current tour are covered rather gruesome images of killing animals on a video wall)?

- Shifts are huge, but also the haters animals fight back. Walter Palmer is the best example of this (dentist from Minnesota who was recently completed on the local headlines and caused enormous anger of the American public after being killed in Africa famous lion Cecil, remark ), and Kate middleclass (sic) is very likely right now somewhere in the countryside with his hunting rifle and shooting at Bambijevoj lures. Idiots rule the world, unfortunately ...

EDIT: Not sure how I missed this was posted already. Apologies....but here's the translated text anyway.

Well... Brazil is not so bad. We're going through a previsible economic crisis after almost ten years of good and wealthy days.
Most people don't understand what's really happening and put the blame on Dilma. I'm not deffending her and I don't agree with some decisions of hers but to 'ask her head' is terrible. When Collor was taken off from Brasilia Brazilian lived terrible years 'til Lula came out and held out his hands to the poorest (which never happened before).

I'm totally against the prostests as they were plained here. The prostests were architected by the Right parties from Brazil with the richest men of the country and the mass - as always - was used.

yeah thats usually how that goes with the power plays. i really dont have many specific questions and honestly i dont think brazil a bad place. i just wanted to ask a person there what they thought themselves. i read periodically but im not following the issue or anything but was interested in an on the ground opinion none the less. leite seems to be on the run and from the description of that situation it seemed pretty bad as in why would anyone elect this person. i think i read an article on that yesterday which was the prompt for the question. thanks for the reply and keep me and us updated in case anything significant is happening

Brazil is amazing and I'm very proud of being Brazilian but unfortunately corruption in politics seems to be part of the game here. It's quite sad. I'd like to say it's great to talk about the moment we are living in and make yourself in home to ask anything. I'll make no bones about these questions.

The problem is that some newspapers want to take Dilma off because she helped the poor people and other parties are not interested in allowing the poor ones to be in college or have access to culture. Brazil is better after PT (Labour Party). Corruption always existed and will be forever all over the world. I saw some people begging for a dictatorship comeback and it is really horrible. I am journalist and I prefer a leftwing govement than a rightwing again.

I'm not sure if latin are welcome to live in US. Where are you from?

im from the eastern shore of maryland now living in baltimore and d.c. and let me tell you for the most part the average american knows almost nothing about any country thats not right next to them such as canada and mexico. if they see a latin american walking down the street most are gonna think there mexican or mixed. its like in that episode of king of the hill which is a very worthwhile show about american culture and generation gaps. when a person from loas moves next door there first question is to ask whether or not theyre chinese or japanese and even when he explains where loas is they just blankly repeat the question. for the most part americans are not exactly racist theyre mostly mad at not having order or control over what happens (or any knowledge of whats going on) and of course the loss of jobs. no one here really dislikes mexicans they just dont like the fact that a lot of people lost there construction and kitchen jobs to undocumented people and of course the government pitts the two desperate groups against each other so no one asks the question of why no business seems to be shut down over issue when they could just pull social security cards and easily find out. they let them use the people and when they dont have any further use for them declare them criminals and a problem while the exploitation which is allowed and encouraged so that they have issues and anger to get them elected again while making money for themselves. its a lot of diversion misinformation tactics that the mostly uneducated hear a lot and when the law changed in the nineties to allow large conglomerates to own media outlets the information stream became extremely biased and controlled. this of course effected how people thought

For once I wish he would come to his senses and say "I believe my best works are Your Arsenal and Vauxhall and I." But that - of course - would make him a man from yesterday, not today.
