No because that signing was not announced on TTY.

Re: TTY- Reader Meet Author : Sydney, Australia book-signing

I predict a riot

And I predict a lot of birthday presents. Maybe that was the idea behind it. Moz loves presents : D And if the whole band is in Australia a bit earlier they can celebrate Boz' and Matt's birthday in the sun, too. May is a big month for the Moz band.

Although i'am happy for the Sydney fans, i can't help to feel a bit sad about this signing. I wanted the gothenburg signing to be single and special event :(

That's so silly.

I don't want to upset those people who love Morrissey warts and all but this announcement makes me quite cross. One of his largest and most loyal fan groups is here in the UK...he's just finished a tour of the UK and he couldn't even make the effort to have ONE signing session.

I know that those who made the effort to get to Gothenburg have every right to feel like they were sold a pup given this announcement but many fans, certainly this fan, couldn't afford/justify the cost of a ticket to see him in a soul-less enormodome but I would certainly have made the effort to attend the nearest signing.

As an "original of the species" I get that Morrissey doesn't play the game but if he has any real faith or belief in his music then he has to understand that signing sessions, bundles, television appearances, interviews and the rest are all part of the deal today. Look at Noel Gallagher...he has never released an album that hasn't gone platinum...think about how many album sales that equates to and yet for his last album fans could buy special editions with signed lyric sheets, he was in every newspaper and magazine and he did television appearances, The Cribs had some great bundles for their last album, The Charlatans too...hell, even De La Soul are crowd funding their next album and have offered fans VIP passes to ten shows anywhere and anytime for the right level of investment.

I saw the Divine Comedy at Somerset House a few years back and for twenty English pounds I was able to pick up a live recording of the show at the end of the night...two discs with a third which included the encore delivered a week later. Just imagine the uptake for that sort of offering if Morrissey did it...a signing session in the afternoon, an interview in the local press that day, a live recording to purchase on the night and maybe some sort of limited edition vinyl/CD for sale only at the show.

Sorry for ranting...I just think he could do more, be better and give those of us who have supported him a little something in return.

Morrissey is too lazy to do all of this. Period. As he has shown time and time again.

I'm not saying you don't make some valid points, but this has never been the way Morrissey operates. This is a guy whose audience feel a sense of relief whenever the lights go down and he actually manages to walk out on stage and sing for 80 minutes.

We are forgetting how easily he gets sick. Doing all of the things listed would be a recipe for disaster. He's spacing out dates more now and it is working.

That is so sad isn't it? He wants to be heard, he wants to be lauded and applauded but he doesn't understand that the world has moved on and he cannot have what he wants on his terms. I don't think it's actually his fault...I think he is surrounded by people who only say "yes" (which may actually be his fault!) like Boorer who sees his position with Morrissey as a job in the same was as I see mine...he doesn't, I suspect, criticise or offer real guidance, he just turns up, does what he is told and then goes home. Fair play, he will have more money in the bank than me, but I would want more if I was a creative.

At the end of the day the band is employed by morrissey. They show up and and do their jobs and don't argue. We all do it.

Best. Birthday. Ever. :D
