French Market Place (Los Angeles) said to close for good Mar. 31, 2015

I meant to go there once but couldn't find parking so went somewhere else. I love me some French bread and butter but I'm not walking ten blocks for it. :p

I bet their fate is the same as Cat and fiddle. Lease up. It's a hot section of WeHo, the property owner is cashing in big on this.

theres a lot of that going around it seems. the lease deal etc is probably up and yes the property owner is probably gonna cash out big which isnt always a bad thing.

gotta say dude looks a lot like matt dillion when i first saw it, the pic.

@torrHL / Twitter tweets:

Hollywood memorabilia store inside may have been the inspiration for "the shop that never opens" in "I Can Have Both".

...I expect we'll see a statement from Moz soon, ala Cat & Fiddle.

What has this got to do with Morrissey?

answer in the first post.

".it's where he found photo of Robert Wagner & Jeffrey Hunter ("In Love And War"), for '97 tour backdrop". post also goes on to say that its perhaps the place that never opens in i can have both

Can someone explain the 'shop that never opens' angle?
i always considered the shop that never opens of the lyric to be a metaphor.

Blykey, Why is this is a story? Was ist das? I mean every one knows that Morrissey would never even step foot in Los Angeles from his home in Switzerland. He hates America and doesn't pay taxes.

If you illiterate inbred Kickball rioting Brits, Euros, and I guess South American descendants of Nazis now could read, he spent a lot of time in this store because HE LIVES IN LA!!!!!!!!!!

I wish the shop closes where Morrissey buys those horrible shirts he's been wearing on tour.

we could fill this forum with plenty of nonsense Morrissey stories if the words perhaps and suggests were key words for important criteria.

That's because it is a metaphor and has nowt all to do with an actual shop.

i have no idea about the shop that never open except that its a great song but the bit i was referring to was when the poster said this in the first post

gotta agree with that. sometimes i think morrissey is like one step away from putting on a speed suit. probably already happened and im just unaware

Is he trying to look like a horse jockey or a gay sailor ?

i think hes going for jockeys. he usually does look better in the street and sometimes i think he hates them as well, the shirts, and is using the tear my shirt off moment as a device to shame a designer or two

#Morrissey onstage at Leeds arena last night wearing a shirt remarkably similar to this years @swintonlion home shirt

Leeds last night. Some say it was a rugby shirt. However I think Morrissey's top was a homage to Klaus Nomi's first album cover.

Someone said it looks like a 50s vintage football shirt or something. Can't find anything now.

Another one of Moz's present stage shirts looks similar to this one http://batmj.com/images/elvis/elvis_speedway_red_jacket.JPG

So, I'm sure there is a reason behind every single design!

I love the song too. One of the best Moz B sides of all time. Sounds very Smithsy to me.

Why do you care?

He stays at the Sunset Marquis. Doesn't live there.

He does mention Charles the co-owner of the store Baby Jane's in his autobiography. I went to the store a few times and met him. They were friends. He retired several years ago. Nice guy.
