Mike Joyce tweets on Glastonbury performance and "cover versions"

Update, June 25, 6:53 PM PT:
Maurice E mentions the additional tweets:

@QuintinForbes You're right. I just didn't enjoy The Smiths songs. He was in fine form though.

@QuintinForbes Quite right. I think "cover versions"was maybe the wrong phrase. I just didn't enjoy The Smiths songs. He sounded great tho.

@mj_quinn The "band" were the musicians in The Smiths...Mozzer wasn't in the "band' M was the singer/lyricist in the group.

From Mike Joyce's Twitter page:

"Gr8 performance from M at Glasto but didn't like the cover versions. M was in the group...but not in the band, those tunes belong to them."

Presumably, he thinks Marr's solo versions of Smiths songs are faultless?
Also, how about Joyce Michael, as a member of the 'band' treats us to his own version of the Smiths songs?

so what if he doesn't like the smiths songs in the setlist and please stop this joyce michael stuff as it's not the slightest bit amusing.

and just to add mauriceE, you're not a morrissey fan anyway considering you slate at least half his stuff all the time.

it's no surprise he is home on a friday night. i imagine those ears must be quite heavy when wet.

besides, joyce, how are those tapes coming along? a little possessive no?

I have to say I've taken to calling them cover versions of the Smiths numbers as well. I've even thought to myself it was like Moz doing karaoke during the last tour. I wish he'd quit playing them and stick with his solo stuff if the band isn't going to do the original justice.

this guy is a joke. i would rather his opinion was not reprinted here because what comes out if his mouth is nothing but senseless crap. anyone who has seen his smiths dvd will agree with that. tosser.

Cover versions? what a bunch of petty f***ers. The songs were Morrissey/Marr - half his. The Smiths were a beautiful entity, fine musicians with a wonderful vocalist/lyricist. Without Morrissey though, they would never have been heard of - fact. Aye he's maybe living a bit on past glory, but to be fair it's his past glory. Good luck to the f***er. And to be fair, the set was a mile better than his 50th...

Does McCartney do Beatles covers?

What a ridiculous comment on Morrissey.

Morrissey is the best thing that ever happened to Joyce, he should acknowledge that.

What's he done in the 20+ years post the biggest break in his life, then?

Hahahahaha, 50 year old Morrissey fans upset because his former drummer didn't like his version of the songs they made together. He's just a guy voicing his opinion, you don't have to hate somebody just because Moz ripped him off. :lbf::lbf::lbf::crazy:

This Charming Man was truly terrible but the rest were ok. I want the one I can't have was superb.
