Excellent! Thanks for the heads-up, Uncleskinny. I look forward to reading it - I was hoping one of the monthlies would remember it was the 30th anniversary of 'Meat Is Murder'.

Does anyone still buy Uncut? We don't need a magazine to remind us how good Meat is Murder is; we can still go and watch/listen to Moz sing songs from it, and they sound as good as they did in 1985, in fact better. I saw The Smiths on the MiM tour, so I know what I am talking about. The "eat-kill-eat-kill" version of MiM is mesmerizing. I can't wait for the Spring concerts, but those like Uncle Stinky who cling to the past won't of course be there; they will be in their bedrooms listening to The Smiths and reading Uncut. Clueless.

In my 15+ years here, I think that is the single most desperate post I have ever read. Even YOU don't know what you mean, or why you're even attempting to make any sort of sense out of doggerel that meant something in the interval between you thinking it and pressing 'Return' to post.

The question is, why have you been here for 15+ years? You arrived here with the best intentions, but these days you are just a bitter man clinging to your master's coat tails, with never a positive word to say about Morrissey's solo work. 1985 was a great year, and we all have very fond memories of the MiM tour (did you attend any of the concerts Pete?), but that was 30 years ago, and Morrissey, Marr, Joyce and Rourke have all moved on. Do you still cling to whatever it was you were doing in 1985? Using words like "doggerel" don't make you clever or right, you are just bitter and irrelevant, just like the old music mags you read. Time to leave, Pete.

Re: March 2015 Uncut Magazine - Meat Is Murder 30 Year Anniversary

Is it the same article from the 20th anniversary and 25th anniversary just re-hashed?

Great that Uncut makes a tribute in their upcoming issue about the Smiths 2nd studio album Meat is Murder

Shall look if I can get it in the Netherlands, in the city mall there's great bookstore who used to sell them, havent been there for a while

can we please be on-topic, no matter who or what or pick on someone whose less 'cuase he hasn't seen a Smiths gig from that tour,
well I was 20 in 1985 and the Smiths didn't tour europe [well 2 or 3 gigs , or TV ], they had their goal to be big in the USA, and indeed big UK tour, which I haven't been
to, in those days there was no i'net twitter, email, even alternative music was only in the evenings and on tuesday and wendsday afternoon on radio 3
[damn I'm old] so one can't compare those days with nowadays... it was more mouth to mouth, and for the UK, DJ in Heaven, mr John Peel and a few others in mid 1980.

Thanks for the info on the upcoming Uncut

'and they say he's mentall''.... skinstorm in the FA cup [Bradford]....

Not sure yet. I'll browse through it in newsagent to see if it has previously unseen photos (very doubtful) or unseen interviews (probably very doubtful too). If they are charging €10 or €12 for rehash they can keep it. Most of those 'specials' are not special at all.

My brother is subscriber and already has his copy.
Read it this afternoon and nothing new in there.
It's a good trip down memory lane but not learnt anything new.
There is recollection of Andy Rourke of Moz getting hit in face with sausages thrown on stage at him in Hanley in 1985. Was at that concert but after walking off during Meat is Murder Moz came back out for 2 encores

The question is why you give a f*** about him? :squiffy: Why do you want Peter to say positive things about Morrissey? He does, btw. All the time. You're probably busy elsewhere worrying why people aren't thinking your exact thoughts at all times because your thoughts are perfect and the only thoughts all people should have at all times.

Such a great pic. Does anybody have a copy of it without all the text on it?

Here's another of the same shirt. That shirt mystifies me.

...And someone somewhere knows their Moz; the cover-mount CD is a neat wee nod to the 'Piccadilly Palare' promotional 7-inch retro sleeve from 1990. Sweet.

hmm nice pic. i still read uncut and mojo. they both do a good job

Just got this. I think it's worth a buy. As far as I can recall, there are for the first time, interviews with some key players including The Smiths' & Morrissey's driver, Dave Harper ("On the road with Morrissey"), Caryn Gough on artwork and fonts, Richard Boon, Andy Rourke, amongst others. A good section is from The Smiths' former tour manager, Stuart James, who lets some cash book items slip, and what was in their rider at the time.
