"Meat Is Murder" stencil concert merchandise

Flrn writes in the Berlin post-show comments:

"...Right before Meat Is Murder he presented a stencil, exclaiming that Berlin might even more beautiful if everybody'd be using it in Order to spray paint public buildings."

Also mentioned in the thread it was sold for 10 € at the concert.

As an anonymous person posted, the stencil is a cow compared to PETA's original pig stencil:

This will end well. And, no doubt, promote civil and rational discourse here.

I thought the exact same thing. Does he really think vandalism will change people's attitudes towards eating meat?!?!? Having a televised, meaningful dialog to discuss the vegetarian perspective, or holding a rally/demonstration/parade to focus attention on the issue, but noooo.....that would require "unpaid" time, effort and energy that frankly he can't be bothered with. "Hey kids...pick up a can of spray paint and deface some buildings" that then will be cleaned with OUR TAX DOLLARS!!!

Not only promoting vandalism, but profiting from it by selling the stencil.

I'm sure this went over well in a land (Germany) of fat asses stuffing their fat faces with any type of sausage you can think of.

Morrissey seems too desperate now for money. The down payment on "old blue eyes" mansion in Beverly Hills is expensive, but I would think he could afford it by now.

i guess you guys dont like style wars then. i thought it pretty cool

hey even now, i like your user name as it reminds me of one of my fav songs.

"It's a beautiful flower in your garden
But the most beautiful by far
Is the one growing wild in the garbage dump
Even here, even here we are

Just the song of the bird way up in the sky
But the most beautiful by far
Is the scream of the man who never learnt to fly
Even here, even here we are
Even here, even here we are

The sun shines bright, it's a beautiful sight
But the most beautiful by far
Is the blind girl alone, the angel of the night
Even here, even here we are

It's a beautiful flower in your garden
But the most beautiful by far
Is the one growing wild in the garbage dump
Even here, even here we are
Even here, even here we are
Even here, even here we are"

This was also presented in Gothenborg.
I really don't see the problem.
Meat eaters gonna hate, so to say.
Cognitive dissonance or something like that?

Morrissey had a point when he said in Berlin that "the other side gets SO much advertising, it would only be fair if we sprayed it on public buildings".

I was there by the way. I was happy to see that the night before the show, somebody had used the stencil to spray Meat Is Murder on the venue doors, and all along the way to the tube station, and the tube station itsself. Well done, whoever you are.

Well once the talent to write good songs dries up you have to do something to bring in the quorn.
The working class have been going through shit times for so long now and this is his contribution. Here is a template go and spray it around your city's, towns, and villages, what a wanker !
Typical Dr Do-little once again, threw the white towel in with the Duck Dynasty and ran away instead of being a Salford hard case, ha ha ha.
Be very careful buying these stencils people, you may end up on the wrong side of the law, just like the coward he is he's making bullets for others to fire on his behalf.
Cancer research anyone ?

What a fool you are. The capitalists are free to misappropriate wealth off workers and animals which they use the endorse unhealthy diets and animal product consumption. They control the media and you don't object. They control the government too, otherwise misappropriating wealth off the producers would be flat out illegal. Wow, you are a brainwashed silly fool. But I hope you acquire more knowledge and are not a lost cause to the world, Evennow.

As a property protector I'm just gonna say that tagging granite is not cool. Stick to the stucco and sidewalks, kids. Sinners look down.

I'm not a meat eater and I think it's tacky at best, irresponsible at worst.

Is it OK for McDonald's and KFC to spread their vicious message 'all over the place', but not OK for 'poor crofters' and normal people who care about animal life to raise awareness about the issue?
Is this not an issue it should be spread information about?
Just something I wondered about.

I don't object to spreading information and awareness—particularly about this issue!—but I do object to vandalism of public property, which is (apparently) what has been suggested should be done with these stencils.

That said, I'm not sure I'd cry a river if someone hit the front window of a KFC with one of these…

I love the street-art stencils I sometimes see in Chicago...they usually have a good social message and they actually have some artistic merit...Everyone that is complaining about it being "vandalism" need to lighten up a bit....

I don't object to public art or good social messages. It is vandalism (without quotes) I object to.
