Morrissey's gig in Lyon cancelled (updated)

Re: Morrissey's gig in Lyon postponed

As a mom, I don't see anything suspicious about reports of gastroenteritis taking out everyone in the band either. I've personally seen the mayhem it causes and how quickly (and disgustingly...good God...it's awful) it spreads.

What does being a mom have anything to do with it? Or you just had to remind is you have a kid?

Re: Morrissey's gig in Lyon postponed

Noooooooooo. I was feeling so confident that this tour would go off without a hitch!

Hope everyone is back in business by Sunday...

Re: Morrissey's gig in Lyon postponed

Nothing on TTY yet. Bummer if they were going to dress up for halloween. :(

Re: Morrissey's gig in Lyon postponed

:( So sorry to hear this...Hope he (they?) feel better soon.

Re: Morrissey's gig in Lyon postponed

This is quite saddening. He always over exerts himself, and I think his tour dates are quite ambitious considering he is prone to illness.

He's always supplied the shortest set in gigdom 80 minutes every 2 days is hardly an exhaustive itinerary. Having said that getting the shits, is getting the shits.

Re: Morrissey's gig in Lyon postponed

I'm not a qualified translator, but that statement says the outbreak is among the musicians...perhaps it's time to dial for Spencer or "Little Barry"???

What would he do if he had to get up and work 9 hours a day on his feet?

Tty says the touring party. He said that in Miami, too. Never seen a band with such shitty immune systems.

I like "The Touring Party." There's something rather steampunk about it, like they play croquet while wearing monocles to pass the time back stage when they aren't barfing and shitting themselves. Get well, fellas.

It's not Moz, it's the band. There's no conspiracy, they're ill. It happens. i wish them a speedy recovery for Sunday.

Re: Morrissey's gig in Lyon postponed

Gastroenteritis? Or is it flu? I hope it's not just due to low ticket sales..

UPDATE Nov. 14:

Lyon concert has been defintively cancelled :(

It appears in Le Radiant website: http://radiant-bellevue.fr/actualites/

It seems to be an "outbreak of gastroenteritis". Seems so suspicious to me... :(

Obviously Morrissey IS ill, not the band.

I wouldn't go looking for a conspiracy over gastroenteritis vs flu. An awful lot of people use the word "flu" as a generic term to mean stomach virus, not literally influenza.

Also, what evidence do you have of "low ticket sales" in Lyon?

Somebody please point me to an example of a show being cancelled/postponed by any other artist because "the touring party" has fallen ill. It just does not happen. Musicians play with the sniffles. Crews set up a stage even with a tummy ache. This is a Morrissey-only phenomenon - a world where the phrase 'the show must go on' does not exist.

Meaning, this is a bunch of BS.

I know. They can't pop some pepto and play for an hour and a half?

I saw Perry Farrell hopping around the stage days after tearing his ACL, which is extremely painful.

I don't follow any other bands' touring news nowadays so I would really have no idea, but when I used to do announcements for the Psychedelic Furs this happened at least twice with various band and crew members getting sick at the same time. Pretty sure it was stomach illness both times, but I don't remember exactly anymore.

I think my London ticket has started to shake nervously.
Well, without getting too anxious, I hope it's temporary.
The thing that probably doesn't help is the wall of silence whereby the band can be active on social media apps today, but not post a grain of information about illness cancelling a gig.
But such is life.
Happy Halloween.

Halloween with Morrissey (by cheekyboy).
I don't like hippity hop too much, but this is quite mad and features the wonderful UK psychic fraud Derek Acorah at the end.
