The general tone is reassuring about the cancer thing, at least compared to other articles where they seem all ready to bury him...

They actually translate into italian what he said to Spanish 'El Mundo' about the 'cancerous tissues scraping'.
And then he says: I've had shocking experiences, but I guess it's something that can happen to anyone. Everyone seem to die to cancer nowadays, probably due to pollution, industries, modern medicine (sic!). We are all under attack'.
And also..
'I'm aging, yes, the body has projects of its own and there's nothing we can do about it. But the world is full of 19 year old people who are zombies with nothing to say...'

Even if you get a good translation from the Italian, you're relying on the previous translation from English to Italian being accurate.

I'm with Anonymous—until there's an interview done in English, I'm done trying to guess.

Thanks, sad veiled bride. I thought it was a completely new statement and not just a rehash of what he said in the previous interview.

And yes, I agree that waiting for an official statement from Morrissey instead of panicking and jumping to conclusions is wise.

That's very well said (as per usual my Moz has a way with words.) I'm especially concerned about pollution myself. I don't know about in your community, but in mine, the thing motorists do is idle their engines in the parking lots and on the streets, as if I want to breathe in all that car exhaust. Yuck! :mad:

You're welcome. The title of the article says 'I've had cancer', and the title of the other article from 'LaRepubblica' is 'I have cancer', but he didn't actually says this phrase, so, journalists who half-lie..
 
As others have stated elsewhere, the untrustworthiness of the translations losing the context in English makes this a non-event without his own corroboration. I suspect he was subject to multiple biopsies, particularly due to the Barret's esophagus issue. I find it unlikely that he would be undertaking a two-month tour if he was undergoing treatment - especially as he would probably lose his hair from the chemicals/radiation.

I have to imagine the Graceland comment was tongue-in-cheek. There's no way that cash-cow will become a private residence again.

Luckily, in an hour or so, he takes the stage again and may very well clear it all up himself before breaking into song. ;)

At least...at least that's what I'm hoping.

Or he'll be his silly self and say something ambiguous and throw us all into yet another loop.
 
I'm fluent in Spanish and speak passable Italian. When I read the Mundo article, I didn't come away with that he has cancer, only that he had biopsies (cancer scrapings). I wasn't sure where the serious buzz about an actual cancer diagnosis came from, certainly not his own words in that particular article. In this one, I again read that he's had "tissue taken away" and then he says that "everyone dies of cancer"...do we make the leap between these two statements paragraphs apart that the scrapings = cancer? The Italian headline says "I have had cancer" but no where in the article itself does he say that.

Many people have biopsies and "tissue cut away" and that does not mean cancer for them all.

A little constructive criticism...he needs to stop dissing the 19-year-olds. I don't know who he's calling upon to change the world but I can assure you it isn't going to be the old folks listening to Shahnour Varinag Aznavourian from their rocking chairs in thirty years. He wants them to be vandals in one sentence and puts them down in the next. It's more confusing than some of my mind babies. The 19-year-olds need to form the vegetarian army. They're the soldiers for this whole world peace thing. They're malleable, old folks are stuck in their ways of relying on burgers and steaks for protein.

Calling bullshit. Morrissey isn't the grand champion of "message control," but I think if he had f***ing cancer, he wouldn't let a random non-English news outlet break the news.

Neither has Morrissey lived in the UK for many years, and clearly has no interest in living there, why should he have an opinion exactly?
 
What the hell is wrong with everyone? Getting cancer scrapings is a PREVENTATIVE MEASURE to ensure someone doesn't have or gets cancer! This does not mean that someone HAS cancer! MORONS!
