Gustavo Manzur interview for e-zine, Typical Moz (translated)

He makes Moz sound like Tony Soprano. A cronie comes and fetches you to his dressing room, where he waits for you in a chair with a drink.

That Major Domo sure is a busy chap. I love how Gustavo politely refers to him as an 'assistant.' Haha. Gustavo sounds like a genuinely good guy.

What a talent MOZ has in Gustavo . Nice to hear Gustavo's background and what tracks he wrote on the new album. Turn him lose on the next album and I bet Moz will have something that will rival Viva Hate . Nice read ! Thanks for posting a translated version.

Turn him loose on the next album? Are you kidding? His flamenco sound is on just about every song on the album for god's sake!

Enough of the Latin-flair in Morrissey's music, please. Uninteresting and unnecessary though I can handle it on this album but wouldn't want it to be any more evident on future recordings. I think we've had quite enough of that. It makes the band sound much more like it is made up of session musicians which is a shame, I think. I liked Michael Farrell's playing in Gustavo's role. CR

Same here. I like it in this album but no more tapas please!

I've been off the grid for a couple of days. So, what's new? Has Morrissey's tour been cancelled yet?

Couldn't disagree more. The last thing we need is for the band to return to the default chug-rock settings of 1995-2009.
Discovering this new musical palette is the best thing that's happened to Steve Morrissey since Vauxhall and I.
Besides, there are tons of non-latin influences on the new album including many of the songs musical highlights e.g. Not a Man, Oboe, Smiler, Istanbul etc - not a flamenco solo in sight.

Yeah none on mt joy either which makes it like half the album its absent from. Personally I want more myself

I agree with anonymous. I love the Latin feel and would not like a return to chug. Moz should belt out another album next year as he is clearly on a roll.
P.s. I've got my ticket to Moz in Dublin and am floating in my inter-dimensional heaven all day long. How lucky we are to be alive with something to look forward to like this.

Who says less latin has to be chug rock? How the hell is that the only alternative?

as long as its not all weepy sting and piano ballads or anything electro id be ok with it.

Unfortunately for you and many others past and present, having a ticket for any of his performances is like having a raffle ticket,
so my advice to you all would be to stop floating in la la land, get your feet back on the ground and have a contingency plan for when the performance gets pulled for whatever excuse he pulls out of the hat.
Or try to get tickets for the first four performances of the "tour" you stand a very good chance of seeing him at these early dates before his fatigue syndrome depression mumps measles infections internal bleeding colonic bird swine dog cat flu humasexual bi polar bi proxy colostomy illness disease tropical disease illnesses start to kick in and YEP you get it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE DREADED TTY STATEMENT OF FAILURE AND DOOM !

Your world is gonna be just like his you'll wear black on the outside cause black is how you feel on the inside, obsessed with celebrity death and suicide ! BLACK, BLACK everything is BLACK.
