Anna Calvi talks about her Mercury Prize nomination, honour at supporting Morrissey

 His solo stuff is great, isn't it? She's demure and lovely.

Let's just hope after she meets him she doesn't tell everyone it was dangerous sex.

At the first sign of the sniffles, she will be booted off the tour and thrown (at least metaphorically) under the bus

Sounds like she's not all that familiar with his work, so she threw the Smiths in.

I bet you all the mony in Japan Anna is more aware of his music that Kristeen Young was, especially when Kristeen first went on tour.
She only knew the hits She didn't know hardly any smiths songs and when it came to his solo records it was only the hits.
Kristeen was always one third Madonna and two thirds Kate Bush, plus a garnish of Marilyn Manson fake 12 year old shock tactics when it came to her influences.

Why was Morrissey so taken with Kristeen? He wasn't in a relationship with her, so I don't know what else could explain it. Especially after the comment she made at the show his family was at a few years ago.

These two women have more talent in their pinky fingers than KY has in her entire body.
I just meant her influences. Kristeen is shit we know that. I mean as shit as shit can be.
Even someone sort of shit could have got a deal and success with her contacts
Anna is really talented makes a change to have someone like that on the supporting

Tony Visconti, her lover and producer of ROTT, and did a few sudiosessions with Morrissey, lucky they parted,
and went each way, Morrissey with a great album, and dunno what KY is doing, Visconti's job is producer.

'and they say he's mentall'...thanks in advance ANO

I think Morrissey probably chose her for her sound and voice alone, she has a warm grandiose sound, like reverberating honey, lush telecaster twangs in big music halls, and a beautiful, strong almost operatic voice which is well controlled. She seems very focused and disciplined, and I like that. The fact that she's easy on the eye and has style is a bonus.

Love to see her support him on a Manchester date.

My, my such low standards. She isn't "easy on the eye " unless you like drag queens. She's a skank hidden under false hair, make up, "work"
I hear she's terrible in bed as well

I listened to her first album on the strength of the performance posted elsewhere. She is a major talent and a refreshing change from caterwauling KY. Her guitar playing is mesmerizing.

I finally heard Calvi last night. WNYC played a clip of her (don't know what he song was) in part of a story about the Mercury Prize. I didn't know who it was until the clip was over, but the sound of her voice (which I thought was very Siouxsie-esque) made me stop what I was doing and listen. I am intrigued.
