This Charming Man: Meet 'Ronnissey,' Brooklyn's Fake Morrissey - The Daily Beast

"On a Smiths-themed boat tour, the phrase ‘misery loves company’ is predictably proven. The bonus: meeting Ronnissey, the Morrissey impersonator who’s much more charming than the original.
“We must get off of this boat.”

“We probably should get off this boat. I mean, it’s seems more like a small ship, but your point stands.”

“Look, if this small ship leaves with us still onboard...”

The clock is ticking and the deck is already packed with aging men, a high percentage with receding hairlines struggling to sustain greasy pompadours. (There are a surprising number of very young people, too, but who notices them in New York City?)"

To all Morrissey impersonators out there (risking a quote that's been used to the extent that it might sound clichéd): "I'm writing this to say/In a gentle way/Thank you, but NO."
As a general rule, true artists are inimitable, and this applies to Morrissey a thousandfold due to his myriad intricacies and quirks.
If you have Morrissey/The Smiths-inspired original art on offer--by all means, do showcase it; and I will cheer you on if you're good. However, if you're just a copycat at the ripe age of 30? 40?, you should see if you can find a way to grow into yourself rather than emulating someone else, no matter how enticingly, and--to most of us mere mortals--unattainably, unique and famous they are.
Granted, I can't speak for all Morrissey fans, but I can say for myself that anything other than the "real thing" will be unfailingly regarded as grossly inferior.
I don't hate you. I don't even dislike you. I'm simply not interested. As a person with "passions just like mine", I wish you well.

"Pretty lame, Milhouse."

What is up with all of these impersonators? Yes, Moz ripped a lot off of Dean, Wilde, etc, but he has his own thing. These people are pathetic.

mimicry is fun and challenging. i dont look at elvis impersonators and think oh you really want me to think youre elvis. i do think they want me to appreciate there performance which is fine depending on how good theyre acting is etc. dont y=understand the objections to impersonators and think people are taking it way to seriously
