Stephen W. Sanchez obituary
- Parker Funeral Home
October 4, 1968 - August 7, 2014

Stephen (Steve) Wilfred Sanchez was born to Wilfred and Betty (Grijalva) Sanchez on 4 October 1968 and was called to be with the Lord on 7 August 2014. Steve grew up in the cozy town of Pecos, NM, where he enjoyed the beautiful mountainous area and graduated from Pecos High School in 1986. He then graduated from New Mexico State University in 1991 with a bachelor degree in Transportation and Logistics. It was at NMSU where he met his wife Shauna and became the proud father to Roshel. Steve then moved to Lancaster, California and embarked on a musical escapade, traveling worldwide as a security manager for the likes of: Tori Amos, Morrissey, Gloria Estefan, Alanis Morissette and Live. In 2003, he became a father again to a beautiful set of twins: Shyann and Roxion and began a new career in real estate. Steve enriched his family's life by becoming deeply involved in Desert Vineyard Church and lived out his faith by building homes for the less fortunate in Mexico. His heaven on earth was Parker, Arizona; it was here that Steve savored being on the river and cherished time with his friends and family. Steve had two passions in life: expressing his love for music (via playing the drums) and indulging in water sports on the Colorado River. He will forever be remembered and missed for his charismatic "larger than life" personality, big heart and infectious laughter that brought joy to every atmosphere.

Steve is preceded in death by his father Wilfred, grandparents Willie and Josephine Grijalva and Gillie and Emma Sanchez. He is survived by his wife Shauna, daughters Roshel, Shyann and Roxion, mother Betty, sister Joey (Michael Fabsits) and their two children Wil and Raelen, as well as his two river brothers Albert Sanchez and Michael Smith. He was blessed to have many special aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.

The honorary pall bearers are: Albert Sanchez, Michael Smith, Michael Fabsits, Kenny Baca, Anthony Baca, Mark Sanchez, Eddie Sanchez, Jimmy Baca, Michael Flores, Pat Hernandez and Rick Plata.

Sorry, but I don't think that's a picture of Steve Sanchez in the in-store photo. I took the picture, and as far as I can remember, the guy standing next to Morrissey was from a local radio station. He was the emcee for the event and was pulling names from the box (for free tickets?). I don't have any photos of Steve though I remember him from the Your Arsenal tour. The man in the photo does look a bit like him though.

P.S. Does anyone know how he died? That's sad.

Sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age.

We all lose.

Craig you always had the best damn photos. I believe when we spoke about them you mentioned that was Linder on the right, yes?

First off, I am in New Mexico, just shy of the Texas border, so I am literally at the Stone of One of My Own. So sorry about this. Very young, only 46 or so. My heart goes out to the family.

Now having said that, if I may render a little joke that I don't think Mr. Sanchez (God rest your soul) would object too, if they can get him, they can get Bradley Steyn. Watch out Bradley. You know too much, far too much...

There is no disputing that it is Linder Sterling on the right.
Also featured are: Alain Whyte, 1/3 of modern-day Martin Boorer, 23 years on...
some jackass in a black track suit, and possibly the notorious "drummer Spencer"...Gary Day was getting a neck tattoo and scoring some smack and was unable to attend.

I dunno. They look like the same guy to me.

Neither one of them look like the guy in the 100 photos in the gallery on the funeral home's website...

Whether these photos here are of him or not, that's really sad. He wasn't much older than me.

Awwwww. A fellow tenfour. Rest in Peace.

Thanks Craig, I'll look for a different photo.

I don't think that's him either. It's been so long, but I don't think that is how he wore his hair at that point in time.

Sad news -- he was a genuinely nice, fun guy.

Original post updated with a pic of Steve Sanchez in the background I found in a search. It's actually from the same 1992 in-store, so the mystery is solved.

Looks like him in the 11th picture from the album on the funeral parlor page.

I don't know, but I hate when obituaries don't mention the cause of death as if it is shameful. My friend Sean's obit was nice because it said he died after a 2 month battle with brain and spinal cancer. Another friend's obit just said he died at home and I had to find out from another source it was home hospice, so I figure it was probably cancer because cancer seems to nab a lot of people. (The reason he didn't tell me he was dying was because the last time we talked I hung up on him. LOL.)

P.S. Does anyone know how he died? That's sad.
