Matt Walker interview - The SPfreaks Team

Thanks! Forwarded to my Smashing Pumpkins fan friend too.

Matt Walker is one of the best, thanks for posting this.

I know a young drummer for an up and coming artist....good advice from Walker for drummers looking to make a career of it.

A nice long interview with the super talented Matt Walker.

Matt Walker – The Man of1000faces - The SPfreaks Team

Only a little about Moz which comes near the end, so if you don't want to read it all here is that para:

In November, 2013, you announced you would be, “drumming again for Morrissey, beginning with a performance at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway”. How have things progressed since then?

I’m very happy to be playing with Morrissey once again. We recorded the new record, World Peace is None of Your Business, at studio La Fabrique in the south of France in early 2014. Joe Chiccarelli produced it. We then toured the States in May and June and will hopefully continue to tour later this year.

That is a good interview. Matt is a great drumer and is doing a good job. Thanks for posting this link.

My favorite Matt Walker quote from the interview:

"No one has the time or patience to put up with a prima donna, unless they happen to be the songwriter or singer."

It can't be easy juggling all those projects. Matt clearly has a passion for what he does. And he's damned good at it. He comes across as a genuinely nice guy, too.

EH....go AWAY.

1) Matt obviously has a skill that is sought after by artists

2) You, on the other hand, have WAY too much time on your hands, every time I traverse this site your constant dribble is plastered all over the place. Get a job. Serve someone. Contribute to society in some PRODUCTIVE way

3) And my money is you would NEVER say your dribble to Matts face. Mozzer thinks growing up Manchester was hard, try Chicago...you'd be lucky if all you were was head butted before school.

INMHO proably the best drummer Morrissey has ever worked with. Real nice guy too.

When he had his band The Most Dangerous Race I emailed him how much I liked the music and where could I get it and he replied straight back with a thoughtful message telling me his influences (The Cure etc...) and then i got an email form one his staff asking for my address so they could send me their MDR Ep which i love! Here's one of the tracks from it called Ashes In Her Eyes. I love this track! Matt really belts it out on this one.

If anyone wants me to upload the EP I will do so. It is not available to purchase anymore so i don't see a problem as they sent it to me for free and as far as I know from research it was never available in stores. There is a Cure cover on it too of Signal To Noise. Their other albums Inventing Shadows and Metallic Tongue are available in itunes.

Thanks, marred. Both for the story and the link. :) I would definitely be interested in listening to the EP, so if it's not too much trouble, please upload it. In the meantime I'll check out the other two albums on iTunes, and whatever else they've got on YouTube.

Before he came back to Moz's band for the 2nd time, I saw him drum last year in a Bowie tribute band with Chris Connelly. I'm not a Pumpkins fan so I won't be attending the Ravinia show but I hope to see him in concert with Moz once again in Chicago.

No worries mate, will do. There's a couple of songs on the other 2 albums that appear on the EP like Ashes In Her Eyes. It's a 6 track EP. I will sort it out on the weekend so keep an eye out in the downloads section :)

Many thanks indeed! I'm always looking to expand my music library. I'll be keeping an eye on the Downloads section. :)
I've looked in iTunes and have found the two The Most Dangerous Race albums you listed, so I will sample them this weekend. iTunes also has a theMDR 6-track EP titled "Arc", but I think it may have different tracks from the EP you were sent (an earlier version perhaps?), so I'll wait to hear your upload, and see how much of an overlap there is.
