Well what would Steve have to say about this?

Morrissey has compiled the track-listing for the forthcoming Best of the Ramones CD/LP which is due for release by Sire-Rhino. Morrissey has also chosen the sleeve image (below). Morrissey is thankful to the Ramones management for this invitation.

Oh, that sleeve art. :lbf:

There are already a half dozen Ramones "hits" collections by Rhino alone. Why issue another one? I guess as long as there are collectors and other people who will buy them, they'll keep producing them.

Nice!!!

Thanks. From the look and composition of the photo, I assumed it was taken by the same photographer responsible for this striking backdrop from the recent tour, but I couldn't remember his name.

Yes, indeed it is. I have this book on my wishlist. Most of the photos were taken in my neighborhood in Brooklyn. Seems a bit at odds with the Ramones being from Queens, though!

I don't understand the use of a homoerotic image taken by a photographer notorious for capturing the male physique and its significance to a hetero, macho punk band from Queens. The only relevance seems to be that the Ramones were from New York. And this image is of Brooklyn boys, taken in New York. Hard to believe the management approved this sleeve. I like the photo. But it doesn't exactly scream Ramones.

Exactly how is this a homo erotic image? It baffles me how one's own perception of reality bleeds onto paper as fact.

Being that the photographer was gay and photographed semi-nude and nude males, the image is homoerotic in his eyes--it was through his lens that this image was captured. So yes, Id say it is indeed homoerotic. Perhaps you just don't see it that way. But I am most certain the artist did. Moz's use of this type of image is a hark back to the Smiths sleeves. Still say it has nothing to do with the Ramones though.

They have asked an expert. Compiling Greatest Hits albums has become Morrissey's specialty.

Eric there is a rumour he's also busy compiling Christmas best of releases for Showaddywaddy , Cliff Richard and Duran Duran. Our man has found himself a niche in the market and is in big demand now, all those best of most of qualifications have served him well.

There are plenty of artistic images of the male form from the Ancient world which are genuine art, but any straight blokes seeing that image just sicked up a little in their mouths. That's the difference. It's the contents of Jean Paul Gaultier's wank bank versus Michelangelo's David.

As a Ramones album cover it leaves a lot to be de-Sired, but interesting that Morrissey appears to take more time choosing a greatest hits package by another artist than he can muster for his own.

Edit: That's for roguerebellions, who cannot format a post, by the way.

Sounds like you sicked up your brains, dearie.
Why not try thinking for a change?

It didn't take long for the usual suspects to get their digs in. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

No matter, nice photo, I don't get the gay angle apart from that gayboys might like it, and it's pretty cool that our man's done the compiling.

Yeah I'll probably get this one as I haven't got any Ramones stuff yet. I guess the photographer was gay so that makes the photo gay? Dude with his shirt off=gay. Shirt on=not gay.

Why doesn't Moz jump in with Rhino Sire, or do they just release reissues and not new music?

Re: TTY: Morrissey digs Ramones

Why can't Morrissey just admit he's a massive fudge packer?
