Morrissey item in new Viz Magazine (7th August 2014)

Continuing their long, long tradition of Morrissey items, this is in the new edition of the UK humour magazine, Viz. Apologies for pic quality, it's from my phone, it's just too big to fit on the scanner glass.

funny. they missed a good opportunity to make a better joke about "something is squeezing my skull", though...

I think it simply plays to all the clichés about Morrissey that just keep being recycled decade after decade.

1/10

Would not read again.

Every day I wonder if #5 is happening.

Viz magazine: "Not as funny as it used to be" - Mark E Smith

f***s sake, lighten up will you? It's a comedy publication, they've been doing Morrissey stuff for over 20 years. Christ, stop taking it seriously, it's a f***in' JOKE. You know, not real and all that. Jeez.

Skinny is right. These Viz people have been goofin' on Moz for years. No need for anyone to be offended.

The Viz comic of him when he sat of the daffodils was my personal favorite.

Viz has been brilliant over the years. There's a type of person that comes on here with the attitude that "Moz says it bad...must defend honour", then goes on a witless rant without looking at any context whatsover...

I interviewed the founders some years ago, see here...

Then there's this, which is awfy funny...

And many more.

I grew up reading Mad magazine, our version of Viz. It's a compliment to be included in these publications tbh.

Wow, thank you for the links. I was looking for the Morrissie image; you found it quickly.

Viz is great and I still buy it now.
Top tips and the profanisaurus still get looked at too.
The writing can be hit and miss, but the Moz bits always get a grin.
Cheers,

News is news, wether good or bad. The site should post all the news on Moz regardless of the content. However, it's how we respond to it that gets me. This was obviously done in fun and plays up the cliches.

If I was Moz and I saw that Viz article I'd be well chuffed. At least they can get his song titles right, even if the drawing of Moz looks like a cross between Nixon and Stanley Baker.
p.s. I saw 'Zulu' again recently and was shocked and not ashamed to rediscover how much Stanley Baker looked like Moz circa 'Southpaw'. Hence Jools Holland's comment on 'Later...' when he asked 'did Stanley Baker give you that suit?'. I'd swear Moz and Stanley must have been seperated brothers.

Having read both growing up, and only persisting with Viz, I can safely say that Mad is not anything remotely like Viz, at all.
