Weird Al is doing a huge video campaign with lots of star cameos that all started circulating the day the album was released. Saw a ton of references to it on Facebook, it's speaking to the 40-somethings who love those stars in the cameos AND want to relive their nerdy youth who didn't give a thought to Weird Al the day before, it's a pretty genius marketing angle. Who knew the dark horse the week of WP's release would be a dork?

That was a stupid post made worse by your update to it.

Some TEEN on the album cursed it. :p

I would not want to be around him this weekend. He's probably in a horrible mood.

He has no one to blame but himself for promoting the Hell out of weak albums but not lifting a finger to promote this one.

This is a train wreck that I called months ago...

He'll blame everyone but himself.

14 - 16K? Really? Had they had the new Album ready and for sale on tour he could have double or tripled that... the shows I went to he barely made a mention of a new album, he could have said "Hey, go to www.blahblahblah.com and pre-order and blah blah blah"

14000???? What's that? 23 copies per city.
He'd have sold more if he'd got that Julia going round a few places with a wheelbarrow full of CDs and a bucket for contributions at the front of it
Please Help the Cause Against Loneliness. Penny for the Guy.

He did in Boston.

Harvest tried, they has the twitter before he caught wind of it, and they did a lot of advertising. At the end of the day without having him out there promoting, it couldn't sell.

That's really shocking.

I'm nowhere near as sold on this album as most here but 16,000 in a territory as big as the USA is awful, and what exactly was the point of touring those little towns again? Rhetorical. Cash in his bin, pure and simple.

I'm not sure even a massive promotional push could have helped it maintain a solid chart placing. It simply isn't up to snuff, sadly. It's OK, pretty inaccessible to the average newbie, and doesn't contain a hit single likely to interest the casual radio listener.

Indeed. Harvest have done their best. Where's Moz? He has no grounds for complaint.

An appearance on Jimmy Fallon or the like would have helped immensely.

I expect another 7 copies will sell over the weekend when the people see Morrissey fans out walking around in their crappy official WPINOYB t-shirts that can't be read.
