Morrissey #2 in midweek UK album charts - Official Charts Company

Can Morrissey topple Ed Sheeran from the Official Albums Chart summit? - Official Charts Company

Excerpt:

World Peace Is None Of Your Business is set to become this week’s highest new albums entry.

Ed Sheeran faces competition from Morrissey in the race to Number 1 on this week’s Official Albums Chart.

According to the Official Charts Company’s sales data, the 23-year-old singer/songwriter’s new studio album, X, is currently in pole position on today’s Update. However, Morrissey’s critically acclaimed, tenth solo album, World Peace Is None Of Your Business, is close behind with just 6,000 copies in it at this midway stage.

This is not quite on topic, but my favorite song from the new album -- and in fact the only song I really like from the new album -- is "One of Our Own." It is a classic Morrissey B-side I think. It has a light, relaxed sound to it and sad, wistful lyrics. Also some Vini Reilly-type guitars in the background.

c'mon friends together we can beat Ed Shitran, I went to the record store and I put all of the Ed's albums down below along with ambiental, classical, christian music, etc

Unite and take over!
My only weakness is positions chart!

Naturally anything anti-Sheeran on this board will come across as sycophancy but in all seriousness -- how did someone like that ever get near becoming a charting music figure? I had to Google him and then thought I was looking at a gamer let out of his parent's house on a day pass with new clothes from the mall.
We really are living in an era when anyone can become a star...

If that damn Hot Topic version would come out this week that would’ve helped!

That helps the US charts but not the UK

My prediction is number 32 in U.S charts
Where's the single to generate some interest ?
Those Terrible,Spoken promo shots ?
Happy to be wrong ...still shocked Y.O.R
came in at #11 after Ringleaders drop to #27
following Quarrys #11 . Between Y.O,R and the
Swords collection, Both being sub par, add the cancellations..
I don't know anymore. but Americas not the world anyway,so who cares ?

It looks like finishing higher than most of his recent output, which goes to show, if it's good, people will buy it.

No. 2 is a fantastic showing for an album that has been hardly promoted, especially when compared to huge marketing machine behind Ed Sheeran's album.

#23 The Queen is Dead?!

Really? How bizarre. I wonder what has caused this. You can understand Moz and The Smiths back catalogue selling a bit more than usual this week but not one particular album and not enough copy's to make it chart.

I don't know but this may be caused if the TQID is on special offer at the tills at HMV stores for £2.99 or whatever. When I went to buy the Chrissie Htnde album Stokhom the other week when I got to the checkout I was offered anything by the till for £2.99. I said "no" but then I saw Carole King's Tapestry and grabbed it. Tapestry is at #48 in the UK chart about 43 years after release!

When I go and get a de luxe copy of WPINOYB I just may pick up an extra TQID 'cos I'd love it to be top 10 again.

It's googleplay's 99p album of the week, they always get ito the chart on the back of that

So, there is only one song from the new album that you really like?

So sorry for you...
