This was in May 2013.
The Mayor of Camden's swearing in ceremony.
I only stumbled across this as the Mayor opened the Vinyl Boutique record shop last weekend. So apologies for it being old, but thought it was curious enough to share.
Regards,
FWD

Holy shit, this is actually really nice. I mean, this version of the song. It's a damned shame someone didn't make a more decent recording of this. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for posting this. It's so beautiful. Such a lovely version.

The Mayor of Camden is a Moz/Boz fan.
This rather oddly shot video captures Boz & small children's choir sing Come Back to Camden as part of the new Mayor's inauguration (!!??).
Make what you will of it!

What a shame he did'nt wear his We hate William and Kate t-shirt ! What kind of anti establishment message is this going to send out to the poor old lemmings. If Tosserrey has anything about him Boz should be shown the door for gross misconduct.
This geezer is taking over the show, what is this Boz solo ? Boz seems to have everything lined up quite nicely does'nt he ?
I bet he's got a secret diary for a future book telling the reall juicy side to the Tosser warts and all. The importance of being a yes man ! Spilling the beans on my time with Tosser. It's time the tale was told about Tosserrey the Diva/humasexual.
Book signing tour dates out soon.

Love everything about this (except the quality of the video)

Re: Come Back to Camden - Boz & Choir Mayor of Camden ceremony

I'd be curious to hear the story of how this came about. Can Boz enlighten us?

Freemasonry maybe ? You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours old chum ( stand on the square and let's do the shaky shaky secret handshake on it )

How many years is it going to take for people to learn to rotate their phone 90 degrees when recording video?

Thought this would be hokey and clunky but really wasn't anything of the sort. Quite affecting ...

Jonathan the gay mayor of Camden is a morrissey fantastic. The type that adds anyone close to morrissey on FB.
"let me meet morrissey PLEASE "

Glad to see some people in the crowd clapped for the performance . The faces in the crowd that were shown by the camera acted if they could have cared less while the singing was going on. Please .........at least turn towards the singers in stead of shuffing papers, tossing hair or/and talking . Goodness, Boz's group are real people not a recording !

the lady looks a bit nervous

Great song though Morrissey's typical voice is lacking this song, but for the purpose and with the gospel choir
and the Mayor ceremony, Boz did a very good acoustic version in Camden Town Hall.

'and they say he's mentall' ... Boz Vinery and Vinylstore with the taste of the Thames...

So who is the Mayoress ? This is ground breaking news and just shows how we now live in a tolerant society and there really is no need to invent words to explain how one likes to fiddle around.

Easter funny bunny x x

Beautiful, indeed. Get this group into the studio for a proper recording of this! Even better get that group and Morrissey into the studio.

First and foremost - apologies for the quality of the recording (I think it's the only one available).

Boz and I lived on the same street for ages. When I was about to be sworn in as Mayor he offered to perform the song with the Maria Fidelis gospel choir.

For me Come Back to Camden really is one of Morrissey's finest songs - full of loss for a friend or a loved one that's no longer with us. I had just made a speech about the good work the Amy Winehouse Foundation is doing to help young people - and in the context the song seemed perfect.

So - apologies for the quality of the coverage and that a couple of people were not paying attention. About 300 people were watching and I can assure you all that the majority of people in the room were in tears on hearing the song. It meant a lot and I hope some of you can appreciate how kind and generous it was of Boz to be there.

Jonathan - welcome - good to have you here. Have we ever had a genuine Mayor before? I don't know, but nice of you to drop by with your memories.

Peter
