Statement from Morrissey on True To You

1 May 2011

April 30 statement from Morrissey - true-to-you.net

I'm sorry I made the Detergent O Leary radio interview so difficult but I was in a foul mood, having spent a full week surrounded by the royal dreading. England may very well be a Windsor dictatorship, but - PR Weddings aside, it is usually quite bearable.
If my Front Row (Radio 4) interview sounded chopped and cropped, that's because it was. I had spoken fluently about the royal dreading, but an Iranian censorship confiscated all of my views. It is distressing, but in all manner of British media in 2011 we are only allowed to hear the same old thoughts and feelings expressed over and over and over again.
During the week of the royal dreading, Poly Styrene died. Having made an enormous contribution to British art and sound – at a desperate time when so many of us needed her, Poly Styrene's death was all but ignored by the British television news media, who instead rained hours and hours of blubbering praise onto Kate Middleton – a woman about whom nothing is known on a personal level. The message is clear: What you achieve in life means nothing compared to what you are born into. Is this Syria??
To top off all the pageantry, 'Very best of Morrissey' (EMI/Major Minor) has yet to tunnel its way into what we older types refer to as Record Shops – six days after intended release. The gallant HMV has yet to stock it, and did not manage to stock the 'Glamorous glue' single until four days after its scheduled release. In fact, the CD of 'Glamorous glue' did not EVER make it to HMV. With 'Very best of' I face my first ever non-chart placing – which I shall bear with dignity, although I could never be unkind enough to express my views on EMI's failings. It was John Lennon who coined the phrase 'Every Mistake Imaginable'. I shall not repeat it here.
I am delighted that the June dates sold out so quickly. Beware, we are looking at four more: Copenhagen, Aarhus, Helsingborg and Stockholm.
The follow-up to 'Years of refusal' is ready and fluttering wildly against the bars. There is still no record label and the years shuffle like cards. My talents do not lie in DIY.
I shall be in Perth – older, but no wiser.
With thanks to True To You,

Morrissey.

I might be snob but ol' Moz really shouldn't share his air with likes of that Dermot scumbag...a tired desperate hack who'll jump whichever way the wind blows.
Glad he realised his mistake!

I know Moz cares about every release, but we can't really count all these re-issues...let's just hope the new disc is a 'goodie'... and that it 'tops the charts!'

UTM!

"ready"

Does that mean it's recorded? It's so unbelievably frustrating that we have another potential gem being hidden because of both the ridiculous industry and Moz's, shall we say, way.

We seem to have a lot of misplaced faith in this new album already. Especially after two very patchy albums. Maybe some EP's would be the way to go, as he doesnt seem to be able to put a decent album together:(

Yes, thanks indeed to True To You. Hallelujah and Praise the Lord to True To You. What sterling work that site has done. A day doesn't go by when I check to see the lastest news or chitter chatter there.

Morrissey should be more professional in his interviews or not do them at all. i think this came across as his worst ever. 'i don't watch television'..apart from coronation street..Oh and the X Factor and every single news bulletian,or so it would seem with his thoughts on news readers. I don't like Dermot O'Leary and thought his interviewing was as bad as Moz's responses and answers but Morrissey does not react well when anyone dares to challenge or take him on and wind him up .He much prefers having sycophantic Moz kissers Jonathan Ross or Russell Brand and I think he did himself no favours hence this rushed statement. He came across as a bit of a prick. A nasty spiteful prick and very very awkward.

Yea of course que the name calling for me,whatever, but only the people who hang on his every word and worship his every mistake could say that was a good move behaving like a spoilt little boy full of paranoia.

Stick to singing Moz, but keep it zipped otherwise....

ilovekate xx

This is a grown Man in his 50's moaning about the Royal Wedding...A Man worth millions who stays in the best hotels in Rome,Paris,L.A etc....Why didn't He just f*** off for the week?? Blaming this for Him coming across as a bitter grumpy awkward interviewee is ridicolus. We have seen Moz cancel and 'pull' all media work before so if He was in such a bad mood why didn't He pull this one. I think Moz is feeling very embarressed about the way he acted and sounded and thats the best He can come up with! Grow up Moz,you wouldn't last 5 minutes in Syria...You could have always popped over there for the week??

Oh dear. Dates in both Denmark and Sweden? I'm getting too old for this!

One of only good things to come from this Dermot interview is that he actually tuned up for it
As someone else has pointed out why a 50 plus old is getting so upset by it I don't know
I managed to pretty much ignore it and there is always the off button on the remote control

Alos shows what his normal position is when he answered no to when he was asked if dermot should play Interlude
He actually said no was his automated response!

Hang in there, Boz.

I love Morrissey.

All the haters, keep hating. The best is yet to come. I have heard. From A Little Bird. Fluttering around in its cage. That Morrissey & Marr have completed a song together. Watch it rise, from the ashes........

I'm anonymous and you didn't hear it from me.

End Transmission.

No wonder he has quickly apologised for the interview he came across as a truly pathetic wanker. Even his apology is odious when he mentions sorrow at the death of Poly Styrene but goes on to say that the weeks bad news was topped off by his 57th best of album not getting into the shops or the charts.
He makes me feel ashamed and embarassed to have been a fan nowadays.

"...the same old thoughts and feelings expressed over and over and over again."

I hope he can at least appreciate the irony in his own statement

It didn't sound like either were being rude to each other IMO. It sounded like they were FLIRTING!

Bless him - I shed a few tears over Poly Styrene this last week. She was fearless and big-hearted, and in X-Ray Spex she showed all those grrrls how to do it right. The world is a poorer place without her.

RIP Marianne, we love you.

How refreshing to hear somebody / anybody criticse all the hysteria and the endless wall to wall wedding coverage. I hope the bride knows what she is letting herself in for by marrying into the Windsors - a brood of absolute vipers if ever there was one. Moz should obviously never have appeared on Dermot's show - pearls before swine...

Zzz. 'Banjaxer', is that you? Quit your pathetic 'cryptic' comments on here and on Twitter. They're incredibly tedious.

Morrissey should shut his disgraceful, opportunistic, cowardly, unholy lying mouth and bugger off. But he is an idiot so of course he will not read the signs and go away.Idiot.

What you achieve in life means nothing compared to what you are born into. Is this Syria??

He's being saying it forever: 'because of who/what you are' from Barbarism Begins At Home, and so on. :)

It's not beyond the bounds of possibility perhaps that the rebellious bird, the new album, might be afforded a test flight or two during the tour?! :guitar:

And as for Perth, verily there will be weeping, head-banging, and foul-mouthed gnashing of teeth in response to any accursed failure to show, spectacular and all as the town, the real heart of Scotland, may be. :p

Morrissey is one of Englands worst fame f***ers,he's struggling in the creative side of things, f***, he has been for years, has something to sell so is being the worst kind of whore and making childish statements that will get him into the press. The man is a manipulative arsehole. Plain to see now, sureley to God.
