An article published in one of the biggest newspapers in Brazil about the blind girl quoted in Autobiography of Morrissey

Morrissey conta sobre paulistana cega em sua autobiografia - Folha de S.Paulo

Excerpt (translation using Google Translate):

The bestseller in bookstores in England today, the autobiography of singer Morrissey has hidden in its pages one character from São Paulo.

It's the English teacher Lara Siaulys, blind since childhood - a condition that has never stopped her from attending concerts and nightclubs.

Lara is cited by Morrissey when he talks about a fact that occurred at a show in São Paulo in April 2000, on his first trip to Brazil.

Lara, blind, was thrown at the feet of a Morrissey show it in SP, in 2000, he narrates the episode in the newly released autobiography
The singer was at the end of the concert when a girl was brought to him by the arms of the audience.

As soon as she arrived on stage, Morrissey noticed the girl was blind. She handed him a note, and he gushed: "I can not see you, but I love you" (read excerpt on the previous page). "I set up a strategy to get close to him," she says now.

"I knew that Smiths fans carried flowers to the show and took some roses that day. And a lot of little notes, some in Braille. Had several phrases, such as 'I can not see but can hear your voice.'"

Lara recalls what he did when he felt he was close to Morrissey and that he had taken the ticket of his hands: "I said 'I love you' and tried to kiss him. But then a security guard has pulled me to another side, to retire from the stage, and the kiss caught him on the shoulder. okay for me. Eventually, I gave a kiss on the shoulder of Morrissey. "

Today at age 35, Lara graduated in music from Unicamp and besides teaching English, is the director of an NGO to assist people with visual problems.

davidt: A video of Lara making it on stage in São Paulo, 2000 is in the unreleased and unauthorized "South With Morrissey" DVD. I believe a short clip is also in "The Importance Of Being Morrissey" (YouTube). If anyone finds the clip please post the timestamp.

It sounds like "the arms of the audience" are detached and have a mind of their own. #zombies

What a nice story. I was so pleased that Morrissey included this in his autobiography. I remember reading about this when it happened. Kudos to Lara S.

I'm sure even she thought Gary should've been cropped out.
