Thank you for posting this ... it reminded me of just how interesting Moz & Marr are as people ( or , at least , as they appear in interviews, etc. )

Johnny Marr by Nick Zinner - Interview Magazine

Excerpt:

ZINNER: How old were you when the Smiths formed?

MARR: Just about 18, I think. People think we had success immediately, but for what seemed like a very long time, it was just me, Morrissey, and Angie, who was my girlfriend at the time and is now my wife. It was me and Morrissey just writing and trying to get some interest and some momentum. You know, something that never gets mentioned in those silly books and all of that is that the bond he and I had was that we were both on our own in the trenches together for a long time with just hope and only hope. [laughs] And desperation and admiration for each other. It was definitely knocking on doors, trying to find people ...

Don't know if this has already been posted on here (couldn't be bothered to look for it), but here's a really nice interview with Johnny by John Doran. Bet you didn't know that The Smiths went to see Van Halen!

Great interviews come from great questions. Very interesting.

this is the best Johnny Marr interview ever...

- marred.

Bit of a random question but does anyone know how much it would roughly cost in a taxi from manchester centre to Salford lads club and back again cheers

no more than a tenner all in

johnny really is a great guy, would love too meet him

He's brilliant. Very honest. Johnny doesn't have to be clever, coy, political, or controversial. Mozzer should take a page from his playbook. Looking forward to seeing Johnny live in the states.

You are not confused Benny, it was posted before. I watched it again and loved it ! Johnny has the gift of telling great stories.

Thank you Guernie I'm not going mad after all.
Its a great interview I wish this bloke could have an interview with each member of The Smiths, the result being him getting them back together, but its a bloody big hurdle to get over.

Anyway thanks Guernie
