Sounds like Moz is hinting this for his Birthday present, LMAO.

Congratulations to Prince Charles for banning foie gras from all his functions.
However, unsurprisingly, this most savage and cruel commodity continues to be the favorite "dish" of smiling mother-to-be Kate Muddleton (from whom, in fact, we expect no less.)

Foie gras production is illegal in the UK, yet the ever-so-correct Fortnum and Mason have found suppliers in France who will keep their shelves stocked - possibly with the hope that smiling Kate will wobble in and place an order for her unborn child.
Since Fortnum and Mason are now the only department store in London who are associated with the pitiless atrocity of foie gras, would you please write to them/contact them and exert pressure on them to stop selling such a savage beyond belief "product".

Fortnum and who? It's gonna take more than a ladder to get the point across to them.

This is how they "feed" the ducks and geese to fatten them up to make foie gras.

The feed is administered using a funnel fitted with a long tube (20–30 cm long), which forces the feed into the animal's esophagus; if an auger is used, the feeding takes about 45 to 60 seconds. Modern systems usually use a tube fed by a pneumatic pump fed via a slit cut in the esophagus; with such a system the operation time per duck takes about 2 to 3 seconds. During feeding, efforts are made to avoid damaging the bird's esophagus, which could cause injury or death, although researchers have found evidence of inflammation of the walls of the proventriculus after the first session of force-feeding. There is also indication of inflammation of the esophagus in the later stages of fattening. Several studies have also demonstrated that mortality rates can be significantly elevated during the gavage period.

^^^ Anthony Bourdain is a witty, entertaining, highly intelligent gastroanthroplogist. LOVE him! And he is a brilliant writer. Check out Kitchen Confidential and The Nasty Bits.

Bourdain is a libertarian who opposes bans and ridiculous food-related regulations. He does think McDonald's is evil, however. And is opposed to factory farming. But he is also a realist and understands that many people don't have the resources to to feed their families organic produce and free range meats. He also respects other cultures' foodways.

He loves foie gras. Many people do.

This is the least I can do for my Mozzer's b-day. :) Fois grais sale & production is banned in California too. I went to a French restaurant recently that used to sell it. I like to agitate by winning gift cards to restaurants I would otherwise not go to and asking for a vegan menu or finding the one thing on the menu that may be vegan and asking for "vegan version." I got a hummus and vegetable tartine and the waitress volunteered that the butternut squash soup was dairy-free, but when I asked if this order was totally vegan she got hostile and confused. Here's the weird thing, most restaurants do have something vegan on the menu, but there is one "vegetarian" restaurant that has NOTHING vegan. WTF?!!!

Oh, well that makes it alright then .

How can he think that McDonalds is evil but force-feeding ducks to feast on their livers isn't?

I am glad that this is illegal in the UK, and I don't find it the slightest bit ridiculous.

It is only illegal to produce it. It is legal to buy and sell it. So essentially it is legal.

I wasn't saying it is OK. I was explaining how Bourdain feels about it and why he thinks it is OK. The video shows him at Hudson Valley, small company in New York. He IS opposed to large factory farms that produce foie gras.

To write him off as an idiot simply because he supports one thing you oppose seams silly. Are you aware of his positive contributions to the foodie, entertainment, and literary worlds?

Bourdain's problem with McDonald's is mainly about its corporate practices i.e. globalization, marketing tactics--especially to children--and slave wages... as well as the way it sources its meat.

Funny, he wrote an essay on the evils of masturbation with the same title...

Sexist and misogynistic...this man seems to despise motherhood and the physical effects it has on a woman. "smiling mother-to-be"..."Kate will wobble in"...etc. I love Morrissey and completely agree with his sentiment around foie gras but as a relatively new mother myself I really despise his cheap sarcasm and nastiness around this unborn child. Yes Morrissey, we know you hate the royals. Yes, we know you support animal rights. This doesn't give you the right to degrade pregnancy and motherhood.

Evil. Pure evil. Anyone who could support such a thing should take the place of these poor ducks - including Anthony Bourdain. See how they like it...
