Morrissey Live At Wolverhampton Civic Hall 1988 - soundboard bootleg LP / download

Re: Morrissey-Live-Wolverhampton-Civic-Hall-1988-New-LP

It doesn't say whether this is a recording taken from the video / sound desk or whether it is the audience recording we have all heard.

his precise words to me were "sound quality is good and it can not be audience recording. It must be off soundboard."

I am sure if the source was the widely available audience recording that he would be able to differentiate between that and sound board. So, who knows...

Re: Morrissey-Live-Wolverhampton-Civic-Hall-1988-New-LP

The listing is now saying: "This is a soundboard recording, not from a video tape or audience recording."

Someone buy and upload the f***er, please. :)

Re: Morrissey-Live-Wolverhampton-Civic-Hall-1988-New-LP

took a gamble and bought the last one of these (positive there will be more ha)

Not the biggest fan of bootlegs, but i am hoping it is up to the quality of more recent bootlegs such as the 'Old Guard Volume I and II' and the 'Demo's and Outtakes'

Re: Morrissey-Live-Wolverhampton-Civic-Hall-1988-New-LP

Wow....the same seller has already sold 12 of them!!

Cheers Moz

Re: Morrissey-Live-Wolverhampton-Civic-Hall-1988-New-LP

I just got mine in the mail. First of all, I have a one year old sleeping in the next room so I had to play it very, very quietly but it does sound good. I'm no expert on soundboards etc. so I can't say if it's a true soundboard (especially listening so quietly for 45 seconds so far) but it sounds 100 times better than that Untitled bootleg. I haven't listened to that bootleg in 20 years but I remember it being bad so this sounds like a huge improvement. Sorry I haven't been able to listen more and give a better report but I'm sure others will be getting theirs soon too. By the time I even figure out how to load it on the computer and then also have the time to do it, I'm sure someone else will get a copy uploaded for everyone.

got mine today but I am at work. I really need to tell my boss that I need a record player at my desk...

Re: Morrissey-Live-Wolverhampton-Civic-Hall-1988-New-LP

Just got home from work and the quality is amazing! Could very well be soundboard, I wouldn't question it. Only issue with my copy is almost every song has at least 3 - 4 skips/scratches. Anybody else have the same issue? I even tried cleaning it thinking it was just dirt, but no luck.

Yeah, or you could just listen to it when you get home, and work while you are at work.

Re: Morrissey-Live-Wolverhampton-Civic-Hall-1988-New-LP

Just got this in today,

Bare bones release, not that i was expecting much more from a bootleg

Sound quality is a vast improvement from previous recordings, very raw recording and performance.

All in all it is a very good insight inside the infamous Wolverhampton

I'd say this release is near-commercial quality. Very impressed.

Wow, things were really getting away from Craig Gannon there.

Just to let you know that this is not the audience recording. It is the soundboard recording and it is very good quality. It does sound professional. Very professional. It is a night that will go down in history. It also still has the same "band slightly pausing " moment before Morrissey sings his heart out.

Being frank, the audience recording that appeared after that night - that somewhat infamous recording - actually contained too many 'wails', 'woh's' and 'chants.' It was constant and it was loud. It was the only record of that night but it was far from perfect.

I know that this is a night that goes down in history forever - Morrissey did so well to come back from the death of The Smiths - and I know that the band had to be put together very quickly for Morrissey to get back out there, but thank god we had the arrival of Boz, Alain, Gary and Spencer a few years later. Morrissey is just class. But Boz Boorer, Alain, Gary and Spencer made him think on his feet and gave him some excellent style and complemented his vocals and could also play in time and in tune.

And here we are now,
