We had a Diamond Jubilee street party at the school where I work yesterday!

I am by no means a royalist but it was hard not to enjoy the celebrations…all the little ones in their hand-made crowns waving their hand-made Union Jacks….the school playground decked out in the bunting the children had painstakingly painted….the National Anthem playing loudly ...

A conversation between me and a cute little five year old grey school-short clad boy in my class today…..

“I am afraid I have some VERY bad news for you today Mrs Alma!”

“Oh dear! What on earth has happened Thomas?”

“My Grandad has died!”

“Oh that IS bad news but as people get older I’m afraid sometimes sad things like that happen” ...

The way I see it you are either a WELLIE family or you are not and we most certainly ARE! All four of us are big wellie fans!

We are always slipping our feet into those little boots of joy whether we are just popping out into the garden, skipping round to the shops or setting off for a long walk in the surrounding countryside. We don our wellies winter and summer come rain or shine!

It is 5.01 pm and I am ever so slightly tipsy and appear to have mislaid my voice as well as the use of one of my eyes!

I have waited 6 VERY LONG years to be able to proudly announce that ....
