Musically it's an ambitious song! I bet he sings it beautifully. And it answers people fears about retirement, don't you think?

I've read elsewhere that venues are strict on video phones in Japan, which good because your view isn't obscured by hundreds of glowing screens, but a shame because we might not get to see this... Hopefully someone captured it and will post it online.

I'd rather him sing "Work Is Four Letter Word" by Cilla Black than this garbage.

Two vids popped up so far. Some hope yet:

I doubt Mozzer's version even touches the hem of Burly Chassis's dress but then I'm probably biased.

Reading over the lyrics...

"And I believe
Everything on this earth
Having meaning and worth
Made of concrete and air
Is to share and to feel

...

When I go
I'll go out empty hand
Leaving dust to the land
Just the soul I have found
Leaves the ground"

Not TOO much of a stretch that he could've used these passages as inspiration for "Glamorous Glue." Unless that's already been blatantly pointed out, and I just missed it.

Until now, I have never seen this song referenced as a source of inspiration for Glamorous Glue but yeah, there's no way it's a coincidence.

i also noticed;

"To describe on the list
Of someone
With a place in the sun"

a small thing

I really can't wait to hear Morrissey's verision of this song and think that it's so interesting that it was probably used as inspiration for the lyrics to "Glamorous Glue."

I wonder if the music as performed by Morrissey's band is mellow like in the original or if it was more rockin'. And will it be a track on the new album (whenever that materializes) or will it be a B-side or neither?

So many questions...

Also, it makes me curious if Morrissey has seen or is a fan of the musical "Jersey Boys"?

I feel like he might be into the song because Shirley Bassey performed it - I don't think he's ever advocated Frankie Valli. It's like "Simon Smith" - he liked Alan Price's version, not the original Randy Newman version.
But, while we're on the topic, was "To Give" in "Jersey Boys"? I can't remember, it's been a few years.

Heard this yesterday at Tokyo Zepp and not having read about the previous Japan shows (which I couldn't attend unfortunately) I honestly thought this was a new Morrissey song. The lyrics and vocal melody were so like him, so I don't know how much he changed. Will watch the original FV video and compare.

That's very interesting.
The Shirley Bassey connection does make alot of sense, as how it was used as the intro video a few years back.

And no, "To Give" is not in "Jersey Boys".

I'm not seeing the connection between this song and Glamorous Glue ... help?

King Leer, you recorded the audio from the Tokyo show on your iPhone right? Can we hear it please?

Brilliant.
