This was on some website that was mentioned in the forums.

I downloaded it and it's really a weak mix in my opinion.

It sounds like they ripped the vocals from the track rather than getting the a capella vocals from the recording session. When you take vocals out of a song you lose a lot of the density so the vocals on this seem tinny and hollow.

Additionally, I do not think the DJ that mixed it is very good. The beat is really boring and weak.

I know a lot of house DJ's that could have done something really powerful with this song but this attempt here to appeal to the Latino community falls very short of anything with any real quality.

I think Moz is allowing the songs to get heard however they can since there is hardly any other way right now. Plus, I think it's not too often his stuff (compared to other artists) even gets remixed and released by others. Does this give the Sweetie Pie remix more of a chance?

For the middle part of this one, I can imagine him coming out on a hot summer day with a pitcher of Sangria under one arm, cha-chas under the other, one hand holding ice cold cervezas and another holding margaritas. Not all for himself of course. Ready to shake his hips and party with the fine friends around him.

Well, might as well exercise our wilde imagination.

                  Glad you're feeling better, Moz.
Happy that you can and will resume.

Not much else to say about this remix -- it's got one or two ideas but it's not very good. Sparks' version of Suedehead was much better.

How about this for a bizarre release: the vocal track for some of The Smiths or Morrissey's greatest songs with no backing music!

I thought the song was a bit silly from a musical perspective. There's far more to sample from Latin music than some lame variation on the Bolero theme, and a Mariachi break. In that sense, there's a bit of pandering going on there, and well.

Some songs work well as remixes, and it certainly can be done with taste. However, remixes tend to be rather lazy affairs, with repetitive bits thrown in for that "Craaaaaazy!" effect.

The nature of the song doesn't even lend itself to that type of audience, which makes it seem like a bizarre choice overall.

                                      Strange.
