"The Day I Met Morrissey" - new book out May 11th - available for pre-order now at www.thedayimetmorrissey.com

They look like him, they speak like him. They worship the very ground he walks on. And when obsessive fan actually meets Morrissey, worlds turn upside down.

The Day I Met Morrissey contains 30 real-life stories of fans who for a split second found themselves in the right place at the right time.

There’s a chance encounter at Wilmslow train station in 1985 when a tongue-tied teen fulfils her dream. More dramatic Morrissey meetings come in perfumeries, airport lounges and by the pic'n'mix at Woolworths.

Written by Dickie Felton, The Day I Met Morrissey, is 100 pages of full colour Moz fandom. It contains more than 100 photos never seen before.

Dickie, from Liverpool, England, said: "I've no idea what the world will make of this strange little book. I just wanted to chronicle the more obsessive elements of Morrissey's support - which includes me.

"The Day I Met Morrissey features fantastic stories stretching a quarter of a century. For some disciples meeting Morrissey is like a religious experience, the greatest moment of their lives. Some of the conversations between fan and Moz are wonderfully funny. I hope that readers will get a new insight into Moz through the eyes of the people that know him best - his fans."

The book will be available initially on-line at www.thedayimetmorrissey.com and on Amazon priced Ł15.

Pre-orders will be dispatched from May 11th.

Felton, 35, will also be taking the book for sale on the UK tour outside the venues at Omagh, Belfast, Glasgow, Liverpool, Great Yarmouth, Manchester: "If I sell more than seven copies I will be thrilled."

Among the fans featured in the book is American actor Tom Lennon, who recalls an encounter with Morrissey at the Cat and Fiddle pub in Los Angeles in 2005.

I prefer to check books out from the library instead of paying for them. Fair deal? That's how I got to read Johnny Rogan's last Morrissey book (_Albums_).

Meeting Moz in Coachella (Score:5, Insightful)

None of my friends really seem to care, so I am turning here to tell, what I believe, is something truly amazing.
I have worked Coachella for three years now and have never really cared too much about meeting anyone, but when the chance to meet Moz came to be I could not pass on such a thing.
As I walked by the hosp. trailer I noticed Moz sitting in a chair reading a book. At first I just stared and could not make myself move. Before I knew it I was walking towards him. My feet were moving forward and my brain was screaming, "STOP". I walked straight up to him and just stuck my hand out like an idiot. Moz looked up at me took my hand and said, "So, is it everything that you dreamed it might be." And then gave me a quick smile.
I didn't really know what to say, so I asked him what he was reading. He showed me the cover and then started to read again.
I was truly tongue tied and in awe, so I just said, "Thanks for taking a few moments from your reading. This truly is an honor."
It was a short moment in time that I will always hold dear.

Sorry to leave out something so important, but I got caught up in the moment. I just glanced at it and thought that it said The Bridge Project by Wilder. However, no such book has ever been, so I searched around online and found what it really was. The Burning Bridge Project by Brandon Wilding. I had never heard of it, but I did order one =). What can I say, I am a follower of a very Charming Man.

Ha ha, I also got really annoyed reading the "synopsis".

Anyway, if you go to the Amazon website, you can actually read the first few pages of the book. Apparently it´s a book of poems (unless it changes later in the book).

What I read didn´t grip me, but here´s the link for anyone who wants to get an idea:

I met morrissey once at the Cat and Fiddle in Los Angeles. He employed a number of evasive, passive aggressive techniques to tell me that he was gonna be high maintenance. I have no patience with this type of effeminate behavior, so I politely finished up and let him enjoy the rest of his evening.

The worst handshake ever.

I could not speak, I was so stunned. It was 1991, and he was ever so sweet. I will never forget that moment. And he touched me. He was kind and patient and sweet. I love him to bits, no matter what a diva he is these days.

and follow up on Peeepholism or Morrissey shot

I met him in Mexico City (Score:1, Interesting)

In his hotel, March 20th 2000 (Oye Esteban! tour). I chatted with him for a little while -only the two of us- first in the lobby and then in the sidewalk; the thing I remember shocked me the most was his shyness, his calm manners and timid smile. He spent a couple of hours with part of his crew at a nearby café and I of course was seated two tables away, hypnotized. Then again at the airport, at the boarding gate, I chatted with him -this time for a couple of minutes only-, he was so incredibly sweet, he went then into the bathroom alone, sans his bodyguards, but I didn't find the nerve to follow suit. I have this whole experience tattooed on my soul.
And oh, yes, I would love to read the book.

All the things you love... (Score:1)

I used to get Sing Your Life in the mail a long time ago (I still own every copy!), and I LOVED reading about Morrissey encounters. Everyone who's ever met him has said how shy, kind, and sweet he is. When I see him live on stage, that's exactly how I imagine him. Morrissey is an extremely compassionate person - I really do believe that. Even today as the hate posts flow in...There's a reason for everything.

I'd love to own this book. But I'm mostly looking forward to Morrissey's autobiography!

Wouldn't want to meet him (Score:2, Insightful)

Yes, I adore him. Yes, I've been an avid fan for 20 years now. Like everyone, I've fantasized about one day meeting Morrissey, what I could possibly say to not sound like a clone, etc. But, the more I've read and surmised from watching his interviews, the more convinced I have become that meeting him would be a terrible disappointment. Why meet him and be casually brushed off by someone who doesn't care to be bothered by yet another fan?

I'd rather tuck the dream beneath my pillow at night than spoil it by the realization that he's actually a bit of a prick.

Met Moz in S.F. (Score:3, Interesting)

I met Morrissey at Amoeba in S.F. on September 25, 2007, during his week playing at the Fillmore. It was Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:30 p.m. and I was in line getting ready to purchase, get this: The Leather Boys DVD. When I was about ready to get called to be helped, I happened to glance to my left and there HE was! He was standing by the cd Box sets! He was wearing a suit and had a hat on (like the one that the guy has on the inside photo of the Alma Matters cd). I left my stuff at the counter and walked directly toward him. He squinched up his face and as I walked toward him I held out my hand and said, "It's my dream to meet you, Morrissey." He shook my hand, bowed and said, "Thank You." I was wearing my Morrissey t-shirt that they sold at his show that reads "MORRISSEY BOYS CLUB" and he said, "I like your shirt." I was frozen in happiness. Complete bliss. I didn't know what else to say. I said, "So, how are you enjoying your stay here in S.F.?" He said, "Well, we play 2 more shows here and then we're off to Santa Barbara." I smiled and said "God! I wish I had my camera. I would have loved to take a picture with you." He said, "It's OK." I said, "Well, I better get back. Thank you Morrissey." He said, "Thank you." That was it! When I returned to the counter to purchase my things, the man at the counter said, "So You've met Morrissey!!!" I was SOOOOO happy! Then, I noticed Morrissey leave with the blonde-haired lady that is shown in the picture with Morrissey at the DNA lounge in S.F.

Whatever happens it'll be a disaster (Score:2, Insightful)

It upsets me that my choices are either;

Meet Morrissey, cry, not be able to speak because I'd be so happy etc. and then have to live with the fact that I'd made a complete fool out of myself infront of MORRISSEY of all people for the rest of my life
Or
Don't ever meet him and live forever wanting desperately to just hug him and say "I love you!"

Because of this I really don't know what I'd do if I saw Morrissey in a shop somewhere. I'd be so, so nervous about just wandering up to him and saying "Hello, I love you" (I'm sure he hasn't heard that before) but then again I don't know whether I'd be able to stop myself. Oh dear ):
