Went to see Courteeners in Liverpool on Saturday and they did an amazing cover of There Is A Light with Miles from Last Shadow Puppets. One of the best gigs I've ever been to in my life.

here's a link to the cover...

  • I really don't like posting negative comments, so I'll be kind and just say that it was very difficult to listen to.

  • How rubbish was that? Just shows how brilliant The Smiths were!

  • It sounds like someone was in the crowd murdering annoying teenage girls, quite rude when someone was already on stage MURDERING a song *he he ha ha haw haww heeee*

  • I can imagine being 7-9 pints into it and then this happened onstage right in front of me...it would have been fookin' amazing.

"You had to be there" applies to this one, but it wasn't THAT bad...

Well you seriously fooled me. I thought I possibly could have enjoied it, but actually could not bare to watch the whole thing. I think its difficult for me to really enjoy Smith/Morrissey covers because most of the time they are not played or sang with the same passion. At that point I'd say why bother. However I do praise their good taste in music haha. As far as Amazing covers go Radiohead's cover of "The Headmaster Ritual" really hit the spot for me.

on a side note I'm kind of worried about how well the Courteeners will be accepted by Mozz fans in the US. We can be quite ugly at times haha.

  • I was at both Courteeners gigs in Liverpool at the weekend and saw the cover live. It was truly amazing - one of the best gigs of my life and I thought the cover was wonderful. Liam and Miles are both complete stars - The Courteeners will smash it in the US.

  • I never looked at their name closely but when I heard Zane Lowe say "The Courteeners" I laffed. It sounds so juvenile. "The Courteneers" has a more British/classic ring to it -- not that either name means anything.

  • this was bad

Pete Doherty did it better in his ten pound house
gigs, only on acoustic guitar, and some spiritual goodies

  • I really do, however this cover doesnt sound/look like anything special. I mean, how many fuckin bands havent done a Smiths cover? Nope, nothing special about this one. If by them having Miles on guest guitar makes it special, I most certainly dont see it. "Shadow Muppetts"/"Rascals" mean nothing to me. Those two bands seem like the same band, including Arctic Chimps. NOTHING SPECIAL. Now, The Courteeners, theres a band.
