Alain Whyte: one of Morrissey’s music men - Buzzbands.LA

Excerpt:

Visiting Alain Whyte’s MySpace page makes you want to dash out some lyrics, grab a microphone and start singing. There, he has posted a half-dozen rock ‘n’ roll tracks that are stereo-ready — except for the absence of vocals. That’s the way the L.A.- based songwriter and producer works, and has for years with his most frequent collaborator, Morrissey.

Alain is top class. Good for him that he is out doing his own thing. Not to mention his songs of YOR are brilliant! I love 'Carol'.

Alain is often regarded as the better songwriter. Jesse, while severely limited in his writing ability, is better overall because he's "technically" superior.

He has other projects on the go to.

I bet none of us who saw him playing on those early '90s tours look as good now - we're all gonna be a bit older, greyer, ... OK - well, I am!

And as regards touring with Morrissey - why would he want to? He's been there and done it. Now he gets to do all of the creative stuff without the slogging around the world; let the younger guys do that.

I thought he also had his own band Red Lightning

Again, the article is just another biased PR stunt to re-launch Alain's career. Its the same article written over and over again. He's been in a lul since he dis-banded Red Lightning. Which was THE best band that he had fronted. RL had a an unfortunate short shelf life, (not without a lot of publicity, including Moz himself at the first gig) but if were able to continue without "others" interfering, they would have been able to go on conquer. I think that the fact that RL is ALWAYS pushed to the side in Alain's profiles is really quite sad. Sad for the other band mates (John and Milo) who put their heart and soul into this band and they are really the ones who "re-launched" his career. I think they deserve more respect. I think Alain should really thank them.

On a side note: Alain doesn't look well. How can losing more that 30 to 40 lbs, in less than 2 months, be healthy. Its not.

                  Personally, Morrissey will not ask
Alain back to play again at all. This is why there is this "new" immersion of Alain. He has to make money somehow, besides publishing rights.
