I'm torn for obvious reasons but (Score:2, Insightful)
I find it interesting that it was ok for him to get The Dolls to play again but when it comes to talk about his old band...

Anyway, I'd probably just as soon let sleeping dogs lie and agree with him but would be less than honest if I said I wasn't intrigued by the idea of a reunion.

No Smiths Reunion (Score:1, Insightful)
I, for one, am glad to hear that The Smiths will not reunite. I just think, they split up at the pinnacle of band's musical expression. A reunion might only tarnish that may not live up to what everyone thought it would be.

    Interesting statement (Score:2, Interesting)
What nonsense. He doesn't live in the past? How can he say this and then sing This Charming Man with his awful Smiths cover band on "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross"? What a hypocrite.

He won't reform the Smiths because they never died in his mind. The Smiths are him and he obviously feels he can play Smiths songs at will, without any regard for Johnny Marr whatsoever.

I feel for Johnny, I really do. That band backing Morrissey, playing Johnny's music and making mad money that poor johnny will never, ever see is criminal. Not to mention they play Marr worse than a 14 year old upstart with newly purchased guitar.

    No individualism? (Score:1, Interesting)
I think its ridiculous to hear there's no stand-out voice or individualism in music when it's coming from the guy who picks bands that sound exactly like him or The Smiths to open each of his shows. I hate Moz's opening acts so if that's the best he can find in music, maybe he needs to broaden his horizons. Morrissey and Smiths-influenced bands are a dime a dozen nowadays.
