Morrissey confirmed for Coachella 2009 (Fri, Apr. 17)

BlueGirl writes:
Morrissey has been confirmed to play the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, CA on Friday, April 17th. Many rock luminaries will be shining that weekend as well (Leonard Cohen, My Bloody Valentine, X, Paul Weller & The Cure to name a few) so tickets may be hotter than the desert sun!

The festival runs for 3 days (April 17-19) and many fans will remember Morrissey's appearance at the very first Coachella back in 1999.

Do you think Morrissey is a little angry (Score:2, Funny)
That he gets second billing to Paul McCartney while the Killers and The Cure headline the next two days. Personally, I have no idea what the point is with Paul McCartney and why people still even talk about him. The English just seem to love old fossils that lose their relevancy. Look at David Bowie, Jimmy Page, Elton John, Sir Paul, and Morri - oops forgot this is the Morrissey site - don't want a troll rating now....

Morrissey is great!

I hate festivals, but this is an amazing night.

The Cure, Throbbing Gristle, X and Antony and the Johnsons is a pretty intriguing line-up, too.

I would say that 2nd billing at Coachella is a pretty big deal, and I am impressed that Morrissey is up there that high. If you consider the fact that at many places on his American tours he still plays pretty small venues...compare that to some other bands who do arenas etc, who often are 3rd or 4th bands at Coachella.
