The Sound of The Smiths is a treasure. I like the original take in this review, contextualising the band. It reminded me of a link someone pointed out on the forums a while ago, to a band in Manchester bearing a passing resemblence to Buddy Holly that enjoyed some considerable success in the early 60's. This was Freddie and The Dreamers - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie_and_the_Dreamers [wikipedia.org] . The drummer's name was Bernie Dwyer, a relative of Morrissey's it is suggested, as indeed in turn is the frontman, Johney Dwyer of young band Noise is the Best Revenge - http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=321102053 [myspace.com]

The end of the family line? But there is no end...
