Johnny Marr, the rock star turned teacher - Times Online

Former Smiths' guitarist takes time from working with Neil Finn and the Cribs to teach on University of Salford music degree

January 18, 2009

Cliff Jones

Johnny Marr is a textbook definition of a “busy working musician”. Currently in New Zealand, recording with Neil Finn, the former Smiths guitarist flies back at the end of the month and heads straight into the studio with the Cribs. And, somehow, he must also find time to plan his next lecture to the students on the popular-musicology degree course at the University of Salford.

What the hell are you doing with The Cribs eh? Now, think what you want about Morrissey, but at least he's doing his own thing and making his own success as a solo artist. Why did you join a really crap band such as The Cribs? Are you hell bent on destroying all respect that people had for you? Really, come on now, if there's not gonna be a reunion, either stick with being a solo artist or set up your own, brand new band. Thats my rant over. Thank you
