Shame someone posted inaccurate stories on Kristeen's wikipedia page.

Good to hear from Kristeen herself and look forward to listening to her new album.

I can tell you this, (and I know you won't believe me)...the song Duet HAD been intended for Morrissey, who had vaguely promised to do something togetherwith Kristeen Young, and then backed out when he heard the track...not because he didn't think it was a strong song...but because it wasn't poppy enough and wouldn't make a good single.

Of course, Ms. Young neglects to post this part of the story in her blog, yet still feels the need to berate the anonymous "offender" who has circulated her precious MP3...of a DEMO, mind you...(as though someone was handing out her albums for free on street corners) which, assumedly, was sent by her to begin with, to whoever originally posted it.

Early in the Summer I had received an MP3 of the song from her (unsolicited; she just sent it one day because of a brief, minor friendship we had had over the phone for awhile that had arisen from an amateur piece of journalism I'd done about her)(which is still on her MySpace, I think...) with the accompanying origin story as posted above included with the song. I did not publicly circulate the song on the internet, nor woul I do something so crass, but I did make the mistake of sending it to an individual named Richard, who used to post here under the name Viva Hate OBGYN. I had met this individual via a Morrissey fanpage I briefly had. He seemed very intelligent and knowledgeable about Morrissey trivia, and we shared a short lived IM correspondence, during which we discussed, pretty much, nothing but Morrissey and Kristeen Young trivia...

As he seemed trustworthy and was an avid fan of Ms. Young's, I also told him the background story of the song, as I have told you.

Fast forward to about a month back...I had joined the Private Things forum to try to establish myself as a fan of KY's, having not had a personal friendship/correspondence with Kristeen for awhile and, being truly and genuinely excited about her new record, I misguidedly posted the full lyrics to the LP (which she had ALSO sent me unsolicited) as well as a 1 minute, 45 second clip of the "Duet" song.
I did post that it had been intended as a Morrissey duet, but that those plans had fallen through. I made that clear.

In retrospect it was not my place to do this, but neither was it meant as any kind of betrayal or backstabbing... I was just excited about the new album, which at the time I thought would be out any minute anyway, and wanted to share the lyrics...just like often happens here with Morrissey weeks before HIS records come out...you get previews, song breakdowns, etc.

Apparently she became very irate that I had revealed this information, claiming that it "ruined her surprise" (implying that perhaps in the long span of time since I had last spoken to her, the duet was back on???)...and ordered the mods at PTYC to kill the posts, which they did, along with my membership. Oh well.

Back to Richard/Viva Hate OBGYN...

The only person I shared the PTYC info with, regarding the deleting of my posts there and KY's role in it, was Richard.

Now,admittedly, I have no proof that he was the one she is referring to who posted the Duet MP3 in its entirety...but I do know that he had it in his possession,(because I had sent it to him), and that he knew the background story about the failed collaboration, and that he was also privy to her "you ruined my surprise" comment (via me) which could have led him to an assumption that Morrissey would appear on the track after all. And, it is a fact that Richard/Viva Hate OBGYN also prides himself on running/editing the KY Wiki page, which is where it was revealed, erroneously, that the duet WAS with Morrissey.

NONE of this would I have made ANY mention of, but for reading her shitty, accusatory, half-of-the-whole-story blog, as reproduced here on Morrissey solo.
