Where did they get that terrible photo???? Looks like some fan took it off the street in a chance meeting. Wow, if that is the final artwork Morrissey is going to be pissed. That looks like some homemade crap! I have seen way better homemade sleeves by fans on this site. I am shocked at the poor quality. RCA if you read this you MUST CHANGE THE SLEEVE!!!!!!

The cover is solid - and it's a solid sounding album - so that works.

The photo is ace.

The album is good. Three new tracks very welcome too.

The crucial thing is, is this a re-issue or a re-master? I'd be interested to know what they've done with the sound if it's the latter, but how much involvement has Moz or Steve Lillywhite had?

Oh, and I'm a bit lost and behind the times... Which label is releasing Years Of Refusal now?

I like the picture a lot. It is a good one and looks like it is from 1995, which is pleasing. A recent picture on an old album would seem odd.

I hope that they sort out the inner booklet as well as just the cover. It is always nice to have the lyrics and other pics as well. The original sleeve was quite bizarre, it only had the words to 'The Teachers are afraid of the Pupils' and no other pictures. It is not surprising that Mozzer is not so keen on the artwork, etc. of this album!

If I remember rightly, the guy who did the original sleeve is interviewed on that strange 'Jewel in the Crown' DVD.

This cover is really bad.

The colouring and typography of the text looks very reminiscent of "Station to Station" by David Bowie, and I like the photo. I vastly prefer this to the original sleeve, and it matches every other studio album by having Moz's face on it.

In the photo it looks like Moz has just smelled something foul - kind of amusing for that reason.

No new album after all.

No southpaw re-release after all.

No live at the Hollywood Bowl DVD after all.

And no re-arranged Roundhouse shows either.

2008 is a debt which must be written-off in the World of Morrissey...in my book anyway.

I go to El Paso (actually Juarez, MX) from Phoenix about 2 times a month and that sign -- Paseo de las Luces -- in the background I've seen before in downtown El Paso. I'm going to El Paso this weekend...and I'll be looking for those signs:)

Love the guy but... this sleeve is a let-down. For someone who has always shown great taste in album and single cover art, the cover is a real disappointment.

To continue with the Bowie comparisons, the typography and red/black colour scheme seem to be a direct reference to Bowie's 'CHANGESONEBOWIE'.

Still waiting for that tacky badge.

Personally...I loved his image during this "phase". He had long lost the "messy/camp" look of the early Smiths and the "financialy stable student" look of the late Smiths. This photo is also pre "lost in LA" and the current "I wear grown up suits me!" lol!

So yeah...nice cover (and yeah I get the Bowie Changes thing) that records a period when he pulled together traits of Skinead, rockabilly and....if memory serves....THE UNION JACK!!

Looking forward to this, it will be nice to hear the two unreleased tracks that haven't yet surfaced.
Although it's not going to seem like a complete package without the b-sides on there. 'You Must Please Remember' is a great song. Maybe they've tacked the B-sides on as well

I like the photo & the grainy texture. Typography could have been tweaked & refined for legibility, but it's not the worst thing i've ever seen. I actually like the original Southpaw sleeve, but I'm in the minority with that opinion... and apparently Morrissey disagrees with me as well. Overall I give this sleeve a B+/A-.

I like the new cover but I don't really care. I used to really love decent artwork. God knows what happened to me!
It'll all be for nought unless they've done a sweet remastering job on it.
For those of you who don't like the cover by the way: all you need to do is switch the new booklet & sleeve for the old one & just pretend the extra tracks are 'hidden bonus tracks'

This re-issue is a nice idea, I like it. Maybe YOR is going to be that 'Balls to the wall album' that ROTT was originally going to be - Southpaw's release has perhaps been timed because it will serve fans with more of the same, or something to get fans warmed up for something similar. Or maybe it's being re-released simply because it just hasn't been readily available. Although I did see an import copy in my provincial, local HMV, around the time of YATQ.
I remember purchasing my CD copy in one of the larger HMV stores for a whopping nineteen quid. Worth it though.
Hell, I even like Maladjusted an awful lot; I think on the whole it's a fantastic album. I don't feel I can say this without a lot of people writing back to tell me I'm talking bollocks.
Anyway, I hate comparing Moz to my other favourite band of the era, the Cure. But personally I can't help but feel an insy, winsy but short changed because their back catalogue is being released splendidly, with a whole second disc of unreleased tracks, demos, live versions et al. But something inside me says that this wouldn't be much of interest to Morrissey solo fans. I think the Smiths instrumental demos and versions are more of interest to the hardcore fanbase - is anyone really that bothered about instrumental Moz stuff?

I know the new crop of Moz fans who are all about little more than celebrity worship just want pics of Moz.

I don't like this idea of re-inventing albums over a decade after they were released. "Southpaw Grammar" was what it was. Take it or leave it. Don't re-invent it. Concentrate on the new album and let the albums of the past be what they were.

Ad if this is a pic by Jake, one has to start wondering if Morrissey is trying to get back with that dude. He subjected us all to that very intimate photo in the greatest its CD. Some things are better left for your eyes only, Morrissey.

If he wanted to put out songs that were previously unreleased, he should've scrapped that pointless greatest hits CD and released a CD of unreleased material.

Oh Morrissey, Morrissey, Morrissey why persist with the Bowie connection? It can't be unrelated to the lives dates you spent promoting Southpaw, touring with David. Is this an acknowledgement that you've put all that behind you? Can you talk to Bowie. I hope you've got closure. Perhaps you didn't have a hand in the design of the new cover.

Since the 3 bonus songs were obviously never completed, I wonder if they're new recordings or maybe new vocals. Does anyone actually know? One or the other must be the case.

Had they been finished them at the time, I think we'd have them already. Someone would've got their hand on them and shared.

i never understood the negativity surrounding this album, but maybe the fact there's only 8 songs on it and 2 of them are drawn out a little too long don't help. but there are some real good songs on it!
