"Hang The DJ" advert in Mojo magazine

Amazon.co.uk has it listed as a November 3rd release as an import and one on that date called "Sound of the Smiths: Deluxe Edition".

            Part of The Smiths' appeal is that their music reached those of us who perhaps different--perhaps sensitive, insecure, lonely, scared, vulnerable--

            Morrissey's words let us know that we're still O.K. There may have been references to issues of sexuality, but these references are a far cry from calling an ENTIRE album "gay." Yes, there are even references to homoeroticism--again, I wouldn't call an entire album "gay." I am OK with gay artists--I just think the writer is missing the boat on this one.

            Why release another Smiths Best of? There are already at least 5 comp CDs out there.

            And also why RHINO? They are a "cheapo" label releasing budget Cds....

            Something's gone wrong in the Smiths administration: All the Smiths albums deserve a PROPER re-release but why is this not happening?

            Zillions of albums are being re-released with bonus discs, the list is long: Banshees, U2, My Bloody valentine, Sonic Youth, Soft Cell, Sex pistols, The Cure, etc. Just to name a few.

            I should think this is something to do with the contract The Smiths had with Rough Trade & Warners?

                    I've ordered my copy of "Hang the DJ" from amazon.com (as opposed to amazon.co.uk) and it's supposed to be mailed on Sept 16th. However, Amazon.com has no cover art shown.

                      then it's tasteful, though hardly original.

                      At least it's in keeping with the typical sort of colour scheme, if not design, of Smiths record sleeves.

                      Wonder what will be on the back cover. Terence Stamp's butt cheeks?

                        Rather suggests that there were only 6 singles of note.

                        It mentions This Charming Man twice, as if it's the most important thing the Smiths did, but I doubt it's in most people's top 10.
