Morrissey is such an arrogant guy. In interviews he always claims he is the only modern popartist that matters and that he can't name any other modern act he likes. What a joke, this guy doesn't even have one gold record.

Look at Sting much better musician and has a much more diverse catalaugue and he will tour with his old band, but moz thinks he is above it.

Morrissey is just an aginf poofster who travels with a group of boy toys who can't solo, or even really play. And don't tell me well he is just not that big in the states, he toures here for the vast majority of the ringleader's tour.

Morrissey is an over arrogan man who overates his talents to an extreme degree. Reuniting the SMiths would be his best career move. Under 98k in sales for someone who considers himeself a legend, what a fucking joke.

Strategy Analytics has painted another gloomy picture for 2007 CD sales in its global outlook. According to its summary, worldwide sales of CDs were down more than 13% compared with 2006, and they expect CD sales to continue to decline rapidly between 2008 and 2012.

The prediction for 2008 is for sales to be down. On the other hand, online music continues to grow quickly, with 40% growth in global revenues in 2007 compared with 2006. "We project that global online music revenues will show a 23.9% compound annual growth rate over the 2008 to 2012 forecast period, growing from $2.4 billion in 2007 to almost $7 billion in 2012," it says.

Viva Hate went Gold in the US. Bona Drag did too.

Also, seeing as Kill Uncle was released in 1991, it sold more than is recorded here, since Soundscan was set up after its release. Though it didn't go Gold.

And if we're counting The Smiths, then The Queen Is Dead, Strangeways Here We Come and Louder Than Bombs all went Gold in the US.

He's had to have sold more albums than this. He would not keep getting album deals if his last cd sold less than 100k albums. Don't forget downloads. I'm sure those numbers are NOT added here as these shown probably only reflect actual cds sold. He's sold much, much more.

As for the new album being pushed back, I think it's a good thing. The new songs are weak and he needs to record/add something better to the track list. This is just my point of view so don't get all bug in the ass on me.

I'm sure Morrissey brings in bigger sales overseas. Since when do album sales measure an artist's talent anyway? Most artists make their money on tour which he has been on for years. Another thing to keep in mind...when the economy sucks entertainment is the first to get cut. All music sales are down. Ringleader might even have good sales compared to other artists for that year.

I think Bob the Builder has a gold record too...along with the Wombles and Crazy Frog...Crazy world!

so poor album sales over an entire solo career, plus huge touring and payroll costs, along with paying all those Smiths royalties to Mike Joyce, one wonders what Mr. Morrissey's net worth actually is?

My guess it must be £194 and 65 pence, which surely vindicates his reputation for being a skinflint.

Vauxhall And I was scheduled for an autumn 1993 release but was pushed back until March 1994. It's now regarded as his solo masterpiece so was clearly worth the wait.

If Years Of Refusal is being delayed it can only be for good reasons. Plus, Morrissey needs and wants to make maximum impact and there are a lot of big albums due in late 2008 such as Oasis and U2. He would be wiser to wait for a quieter period when he can guarantee he would get the lead album review in the music mags and maximum exposure. An early 2009 release - Feb or March - makes more sense in PR terms.

Finally, it should be pointed out that Morrissey has just made an album with a producer now in intensive care. This must be affecting him and perhaps his delay is in some part due to him waiting to see when Jerry Finn recovers before he makes a final decision on tracklisting etc.

Just some thoughts, y'know...

What is the problem about selling more or less??
If there are some competition i would like to be informed.
Morrisey, like it or not, is not a comercial musician (tank God) and for me he could sell at least 1 cd, mine of course.
It is true that he have a problem with is ego and i dont like the fact that he is always put other musicians down as he is doing with Kyle Minogue.
I like him for the gigs, the songs, The Smiths and everything he is into.

Compare his record sales with Lou Reed's solo career and I'm sure you'd see the same pattern. But no-one would say the things about Lou that they say about Morrissey. Most respected solo artists have they same problem. Iggy Pop anyone? He keeps putting out records that no-one buys. Get off Morrissey's dick. He's still the greatest.

I respect Moz's wishes to postpone the release rather than taking the project off of Jerry Finn's hands if it's not finished yet.
