I don't think this is true for a second, and I would have thought anyone with any sense (at least someone from the UK, anyway) could have worked out this was false. I am prepared to eat my words, but I am going to consult some authorities on the Scottish charts and hopefully we can get a correction here.

    so.. (Score:1)
Ok I did a bit of investigation, Morrissey topped the Scottish chart, but the Scottish chart (unlike the UK chart) is compiled from physical sales alone.

This is comparable to the situation a couple of years ago when Moz got in the top 10 of the US physical singles charts, but was nowhere in the 'official' US singles chart, the Hot 100. I.e. it's misleading to quote the fact without qualification.

Moz only sold ~7000 copies of All You Need Is Me total, both physical and digital (majority, admittedly, probably physical) in the whole UK, but with Scotland only making up 8% of UK sales, even if we assume that almost all copies of the single sold in Scotland were physical, then this represents topping the chart on hundreds of physical sales only,

and taking digital sales into account, he wasn't anything like the top seller in Scotland that week.

    Has always had untouchable taste.

    VIVA independence.

And I think that Moz, seeing as he seems to have a grip on British history, and given Celtic roots, would salute the idea.

    I'm English by the way.

Scotland, if the people vote it so, should be free and let loose.

And just to stir things up, I live in Liverpool but am originally from London. I think that London is incomparable with anywhere else in Britain because not only is it ace, it's size makes any mirroring irrelevant. It's the capital - and hard to compare with anywhere else sensibly.

    So here are my Top 5 (provincial) UK cities;

    1. Glasgow
    2. Liverpool
    3. Bristol
    4. Newcastle
    5. Manchester

    OH COME GET ME!

Number One in Scotland?! Since when, in the history of the UK Top 40, has anyone given a shit about the number one best selling single in Scotland?! Anyone with half a brain will disregars this as a mere piece of trivia. The only number one properly recognised in the UK is the UK number one, not the Scottish Number One.

I can fully believe that he sells well in Scotland though, every time he releases a new single it sells out before midday on the monday and the tuesday in Zavvi, HMV and Fopp in Edinburgh.
