Morrissey Parts With Manager - Showbiz Spy
By WENN, 29th May 2008

British rocker MORRISSEY has parted ways with his manager of five years.

The former Smiths frontman has severed links with his longterm associate Merck Mercuriadis in favour of a new contract with ie: music - a management firm boasting clients including Robbie Williams.

And Mercuriadis insists he is not bitter about the decision - admitting he is actually relieved to have ended his working relationship with the singer, as he can now have some time off.

He says "Over the last five years, Morrissey and I have had three albums which entered the charts at five, two and one, and had 10 top 20 singles and sold hundreds of gigs all over the world from Earl's Court (London) to the Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles).

"I believe my penance is complete and Saint Morrissey has granted my absolution."

    Cheers, Merck! (Score:0)
Merck may have presided over a creative low in Morrissey's career, but his latest comments
once again proves that he is a gentleman of the highest order. One can only commiserate with the unfortunate agency who has taken on the poisoned chalice of managing Steven Patrick Morrissey.

It seems he's trying to tell us something, i.e. Moz was a demanding, supremely narcisistic (sp?) pain in the arse, and he (Merck) would rather clean up after zoo animals than work with such a prima donna ever again. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it though?

We got a new Morrissey here.. What a cryptic message.

His healing is complete and 'Saint' Morrissey (is this a a remark to Morrissey feeling himself superior)?

I don't know. It's kinda multi intrepetal. Time will tell
