Cossy posted in the forums:

Wicklow Gig no Morrissey

The rumoured second gig in Ireland is not happening. Morrissey was offered to play the concert but turned it down. This is coming from an official source.

Ads recently hinted at Morrissey playing. Rita writes:

As well as this site, discussing that Morrissey "will" be performing at this one-day festival, in yesterday's Irish Times supplement, "The Ticket", a full-page ad appeared, showcasing "A Day In The Life Festival" ("Plus Very Special Guests!") using Morrissey's Greatest Hits logos (but with a ? in place of the regal M!) and purple coloured background.

Another let down. They say that life here is easy. With today's inflation, a cowpat now costs upwards of £189 - much more than the average Scottish weekly wage.

I am sure Moz will take a long time to trickle down to this drivelling little town. When he does, i'll stab myself for joy.

So now I have to change my flight details and I bet bet it won't come cheap.
WTF is the point in going all the way to Ireland just for one gig.

Jim Carroll has now updated his original blog entry on the announcement of this festival (who’s since swimming with the fishes?!) - http://www.ireland.com/blogs/ontherecord/2008/05/1 2/morrissey-co-wicklow-june-28/

“UPDATE Apologies to all for the misinformation. It seems that while Moz was slated to play a show at Luggala, there is now a lot of confusion about if this is or is not going ahead. In light of this, I’m closing the comments on the post for now.”

I think this still leaves a little chink of light shining through; the Fat Lady hasn’t sang yet, and the question mark stays smudged on the shield!

Some decent consolation for Dubliners is that These Charming Men, fab Smiths tribute band, appear to cheer in The Button Factory, Temple Bar, on Saturday, 31st May.

Another interesting visitor here, this time on the day after Moz' Marquee gig in Cork i.e. 27th June, will apparently be Gary Day dj’ing for band Autoban in the Dublin city centre venue, The Crawdaddy.

          So, dry your eyes, mate…
