Charlus compared to Morrissey

The resemblance of this dramatic duo’s lead singer and lyricist, Daniel, to Morrissey is so uncanny, you might initially mistake this to be the ex-Smiths leader’s new side project (on “I Lost My Baby,” you won’t be able to tell the difference!). Perhaps he lacks The Mozzer’s self-depreciating humor, but neither does he mince words, as evidenced by song titles such as “I Never Liked My Body” and “I Am Secretly In Love With You.” And the industrial-strength opener, “The Opium Farmer” (which introduces bandmate Paul Opalach’s percussive synths), chronicles a suicide bomber’s fate. Daniel’s assertive, frank personality and slightly narcissistic tendencies may be an acquired taste for some, but his sturdy, affecting vocals, coupled with Opalach’s bright, occasionally danceable rhythms, are likely to draw you in despite your misgivings. Actually...The pictures with the roses distinctly resemble a photo shoot that was done with Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance Back around 2004...yuck.

great voice.. he really sounds a lot like Moz- with a bit of Bernard Sumner from New Order as well... his pix show that his style is obviously influenced by Moz as well- he has that pouty look and a pomp in a few pix...music samples were good!!

sounds like one of Jesse's cookie-cutter compositions. Check the Myspace songs instead.

Bizarre mixture of influences -- teetering on the line between interesting and terrible. "The Opium Farmer" has a weird Bowie vibe and an unique narrative but on the other hand "I Am Secretly In Love With You" is absolute synth turd with high school lyrics. Schizophrenic.

This is by far the worst case of glottal shock i've ever heard. Not only are the songs dreadful musically.... but then there are these "lyrics". I wish the swift punishment for they who thought this news-worthy.
