Oh God, this is getting ridiculous! Once upon a time I was proud to be a fan but now I'm becoming embarrassed to admit that I even used to admire him. Morrissey has now officially joined Michael Jackson's club for ageing popstars who've lost touch with the real world. We are probably supposed to think the use of this ancient photograph is wry and witty but it is actually just laughable and saddening. I cringe for him.

Cover up the top half of this image and what are we left with?. Rasputin's death mask perhaps?!

The younger images are justified supposedly because the Greatest Hits roughly span his entire career. Therefore any picture from his career would be useable.

If this continues on presently based and released albums...well there's major denial.

He's probably always wanted to use these pictures and this is as close to an excuse as he'll get...until the best of the greatest of Morrissey is released. Or his Playgirl centerfold.

What a fecking piece of art! This is absolutely delish, and just way too inviting. And that 'V' structure underneath his dropping head ... a delicate opening indeed.

I really love this photograph. I could not care less from what period of his life he chooses to use the photographs from. As I see it, he's been scrumptious all along. The hard part is looking at this miniature piece of art and not being able to have any of it.

Oh well. Thank you Moz for sharing a drop of your intimacy and for feeding my imagination. ; )

Boy do I miss obscure movie stars

So Morrissey's finally exploring his sensuality a bit. So what? It's taken him a while, but we always knew he was a late bloomer. And he's always said he wanted to age disgracefully. (God, he could appear on the cover of Playgirl in a tight pair of speedos festooned with images of bananas and still emerge with more dignity than most other long-in-the-tooth pop stars.) And so what if he's appealing to his gay fans. Why shouldn't he? What do all you prudes and cold fish WANT us gay fans to do - wear sack cloth and hide under rocks? Now where's that DVD copy of 'Flesh'...

and this cover makes me horny.

What happened to the classic sleeves. The morissey sleeves have always been something that you could frame and wouldn't look out of place on a wall as a piece of art. But now we're in the age of air brushing it looks as though he has jumped on the LA band wagon of looking good enough to sell. These last two singles covers and the Album cover are cringe worthy. I don't feel comfortable when I purchase these sleeves and even more uncomfortable when I see them on display. I hope Moz can see this and bring back the the covers that keep a certain mystique and class instead of LA soft porn. Moz when I purchase your records I want the whole package (Cool record sleeve and tunes) not your package!!!

I am sure that if he uses recent pics people are going to complain anyways so just enjoy the music if you like his music of course. Maybe he loves this pics and wants to have them on his singles. Who knows.

I loved this photo.I think it`s sexy.So where the ones he used for his last single.As for saying this appeals to gay fans so what if it does.Morrissey has always had gay fans because most of his fans can relate to his lyrics gay or straight male or female.So get over it already it`s 2008 in case you didn`t know!

I see a guy coming out of his swimming pool, and laying on his back. Maybe I'm more heterosexual than I thought! I don't see it as gay or straight or even sexual...and it will be completely forgotten soon enough.

Remember the cover for the "Tomorrow / Let the Right One Slip In" single. I'm sure many don't, but it's almost identical in it's nudity/show-off, laying by the pool factor. I'll buy this of course. It's what he's always done from time to time, so why the surprise?

I hope this worshiping of his younger self ends soon though.

Has anyone heard the new song?

I told myself I would not buy the album and instead just buy the singles to get the new songs. I didn't need another Morrissey greatest hits or a picture of his hairy ass. But now he spreads his gross gayness across the singles too. Looks like I can do without the new songs. Ugh.

It's a nice shot, and in keeping with the 'greatest hits' look. Must admit though, I wish Morrissey would put more time and care into his covers. The last really strong cover was Irish Blood. I remember when I first saw it in HMV, I thought it was so strong (or, at least, brash) in terms of colour and type (I mean, that font shouldn't work, but somehow it does). Every cover since then has been a bit by-the-numbers (and some of them have been downright drab and amateurish).

Maybe he should have a competition. Winner designs the next album.

Just when I think that humanity can't sink any lower, I read the comments on this page. Well done people.

Why does is he necessarily "gay"? Or "bisexual"? Why so much preoccupation with labels? Masculinity has superficially been linked to "toughness" since God(ess/ess) hasn't/haven't "upgraded" our brains - and femininity associated with "delicateness", even though there are many delicate men and tough women walking around the planet. And so we look at Morrissey's pose, as if he were a flower offering himself, and we instantly assume he's gay or bisexual. It seems so important to assume this, to make a fuss about this. Honestly, I find all this gay/straight pseudo-controversy more boring than my mother's complaint about bad weather, her diabetes and her arthritis combined.

What a perfectly sharp and aesthetically-pleasing photograph! Morrissey can chill out beyond the two-finger salute to detractors, set both to music, and so handsomely here in stone.

I can't see why everyone is making such a fuss. He's just releasing what seems to be a set of beautiful, previously unseen photographs.

And I apologise for some of my comments on here.
They do have a right to exist, but never have the right to say heterosexuality isn't the norm.
It is the norm and argue all you like being "gay" isn't normal. Be as gay as you like but never insult those who live the way God planned it.
