In addition to being heavily influenced by different kinds of music from Africa, they were influenced by the Smiths. In fact, the Smiths were mentioned twice in the news story. These guys were on Saturday Night Live over the weekend. I am usually not down with songs that say "Hey" alot but the one they played and "No Cars Go" by Arcade Fire are the exceptions. They look like a bunch of geeks on speed but they kept my attention and the song was catchy.
