Thanks to this song, which I didn't know who sang it, was that in 1994 I bought "World of Morrissey" thinking "This should be a Morrissey's hits" album, hoping that it will include the "I'm so sorry" song. Well, what a nice accident, I just discovered his music and lyrics and became a fan, a very hard fan.

Suedehead is an "instant" classic. The video added another whole layer of meaning to this instant hit. I was thinking that Morrissey could somehow create another "tribute" for the likes of Jobriath or Nico. I have heard rumours that there is/are a demo/demos out there with Morrissey covering Jobriath. What about the rumour of Morrissey covering "Horses" by Patti Smith? Even as a b-side, these types of tributes are beautiful. Your thoughts?

I was so looking forward to Mozzer's release (so to speak) after Johnny left the Smiths. Moz did not let me down. I am very happy he is still around making music, well received or not. Yes, like most have expressed on this site, a return from Alain would be wonderous.

Those were the days, 4 songs on the CD-single, and no mucking about with 2 CDs and a 7" - Suedehead, I Know Very Well How I Got My Name, Hairdresser on Fire, and Oh Well, I'll Never Learn, what a delight. Although since the sticker on my copy says it cost £4.49, its much cheaper these days per song to download, or about the same to buy the singles bundles.

I went out and bought it on 7" and 12" the day it came out, played them virtually to death.

I had it on tape (recorded from Peel) a ccuple of weeks before it came out and took it on a school field trip to commiunist Romania; it was very strange listening to it in soviet era Eastern Europe!

picking up the 12" single of this maybe the day it came out at Tower Records in Mountain View, CA. At the time, there were so many questions about what would happen when the Smiths broke up. The single was a real good start to the solo career. Who knows what would have happened had he released "In the Future When All's Well". We probably wouldn't be talking about this.

Since Feb 27 1988 was a Saturday I doubt this exact date is correct.

I remember when it came out and I remember MTV would play the video during the day and during prime time hours. Not any of this 3 AM air time crap like you get now. I also remember seeing Smiths videos during the day and prime time hours. That was back when MTV still played videos most of the time. Anyway, a great song and a great video filmed in Indiana!

Those were the days... driving to the beach with my girlfriend without a care in the world... Blasting Smiths and Moz all the way. How I loved those days. Moz meant everything to me back then. My girlfriend at the time would make me Smiths mixed tapes and call Kroq and dedicate Moz songs to me. What a wonderful time and what a beautiful song. I have a hard time watching the video ...I get misty eyed and start thinking about the fallen heroes I never met. Those were the days....

I remember it well. I was there. I bought it on the very day. I remember the very few Smiths fans there were telling me it was "okay", "not as good as The Smiths", etc.

In fact, I don't remember anyone liking it much at all.

So, it seems, little has changed when Morrissey releases a new single. But give it a decade or two, and everybody says they love it!

Remember it well , the smiths had gone and I was eagerly anticipating the solo stuff. Then came the shock of the sleeve and that put me on a back foot straight away. Still, I thought it was a one off. Then came EDILS and what a song. On a par with any smiths song , oh but the sleeve.

Then came LOTFIP , cracking belting song , sleeve and Rourke , Joyce and Gannon back in the fold.

Back to the old days.....then

Fast forward to today

THPGU......shocking.

Its been a rollercoaster.

Some ups but majority of lows when you reflect over the last 20 years.

CD singles back then were a JOY to buy.
There was normally just one version (one CD) and the B-sides were good. And this was the case with many other artists as well - not just Morrissey.

I don't get it why some bands release the single as 3 different CDs.
