It's Great. (Score:1)
The Live album is great! Pigsty is just so perfect. And the CD for the Greatset Hits is lovely, looking like a vinyl record, and even has a 'run off groove' message.

    UK iTunes / "Remixes"? (Score:0)
I haven't bought the CD yet but just checked UK iTunes and the songs still come up as "Remix 2007". Are they different in any way? Remastered perhaps? Shorter single versions? Can anyone shed any light to this?

    Oh well (Score:1)
    Just received my copy today.

Disc 1? No surprises there. Well, enough said.

Disc 2? The live version of Playboys is nice. Much better than the one on the CD single. Pigsty is nice as well. The rest is old news. Why does he keep releasing the same old songs? I have more than enough live versions of Irish blood or The first of the gang. It's getting boring. Really boring.

The design & packaging is top notch. The choice of songs is fantastic (it pisses all over the old timers with false teeth who never move on) and it has 2 new great songs. After all it's a record company greatest hits - but there's nothing wrong with that. Artists too have to live! After all it is above everything - EVERYTHING - that is being manufactured and churned out these days.

So here is to Eric Hartman, Nick The Name, Broken and all the other loosers: suck cock!

At least Morrissey has sense not to release another "Best of Morrissey 1998" again. What would be the point?

People MOVE on or buy his back catalogue for $10 a cd in your local shop.

I laughed, I danced, I sang along. I grew to love the tracks on ROTT, but this is a return to the articfice of a well crafted pop song. It's poetic, scathingly funny, has a great key change and a brilliant pay off. It's also musically a step above That's How People Grow Up.
Anyway, enough enthusing about a single track. I may well be buying songs I have several times over, but still, this album is worth it for the packaging and cd style alone. Lovely art for a lovley collection of songs.

Mozz u released some amazing gems in the 90's.
If u r going for chart big placings only - then surely
Alma should be on there at least.

My MAIN gripe is the album of 15 tracks is only 51 mins long. So theres no excuse - u could of put at least another 6 songs on it. (Credible 90's ones)

Good points to note - if u goto www.morrisseydirect.com
and register for the 'new upcoming special release' (still to be announced) and wait for the confirmation, they give u a free mp3 download of 'First Of The Gang' LIVE at the Pearl Theatre.
            RESULT.

            thank u . goodnite.

              Overall a GREAT compilation. (Score:0)
Yes it is heavy on the last 2 albums - but then again the earlier material is available on other CDs and compilations which are mid-price these days, HMV often sells most of them for £4.99.

Great artwork. The sleeves are perfect. The Vinyl is out of this world. It's beautiful. PLUS all the recent songs have been remastered (not remixed) and they sound way better.

People should remember that record industry these days is a collapsing business. Just look at what is happening to EMI. Artists simply have to compromise in order to stay afloat. Everyone knows that Morrissey likes "traditional" records and labels: RCA, EMI, Mercury, etc. So I think he's done very very well.

Speaking as an observer of all this sycophantic fandom stuff yet as a HUGE admirer of most of Morrissey’s music, I will NOT be buying this latest offering from Moz Inc. The majority of it I have already and the “new” stuff I know I will never listen to for pleasure since it simply doesn’t come anywhere near the places that stir me, places Morrissey used to know so well.
The only recent posts here worthy of any note have been from Mr Nick-the-Name. I find myself reluctantly inclining to agree with every eloquent word he utters and am equally pessimistic of the NEXT album being notable at any level.
These days I find myself listening more frequently to the Arctic Monkey and, considering my middle-age, this is probably (nay, DEFINITELY) pretty sad….but Moz just isn’t doing it for me any more. Neither do his bum-cheeks!
